One of the great colorless mana accelerators of all time, this has fueled many a deck over the years. The drawback isn't great for most decks, since this card is often used to get either a big creature quickly or as part of a combo...

I really wonder if it´s possible to make infinite colorless mana with this, if you enchant it with Power Artifact...
It´s strange... There are different versions of this card, and somehow, every version says something different on its text, but if you read the text on this version, then it actually should be possible to go infinite with this. However, when I play on ***atrice, the oracle text says, that you can only untap Mana Vault at the beginning of your upkeep, which actually stops you from being able to go infinite, i think, since the beginning of the upkeep already ended, after you untapped it for the first time.
But every other version really still says something else, like only being able untap it during your upkeep, but nothing about only the beginning of upkeep, for example... really weird...

One of those cards that exemplified the mystery and allure of early Magic. Rare card, powerful effect, thought provoking artwork... vague stories of players kickin arse... absolutely hypnotized my childhood self.
