Easily the best of the Rites cycle from Odyssey. I've seen many an early kill be down to this card. Anyone who's baulking at the discard should look at it this way: You don't need your hand if the opponent is dead. Discarding Anger to it is particularly nice.

Yeah, I love this card. I also like how (I think) if they counter it you get to keep this card. This card make it incredibly easy to get turn 4 wins. Turn 1 (1 drop) Turn 2 Mogg war marshal Turn 3 another war marshal (or really any creature)
Turn 4: (You have 4 cards in hand right now) Attack with five guys, play keep watch, discard a bunch (up to seven, but only as many is needed just in case), attack for about 50.
By far the best of the rites.
Also, stygimoloch is right: Who needs a hand when ur opponent is dead?

Not a bad card in a bind, and i agree with using it along side Anger, and to top it off even, use it late game with Cairn Wanderer and just dump cards with a buncha different static abilities. A bit costly, but you'll pull field advantage very quickly.

I love it when I swing with four 1/1 tokens and my opponents just "take it." Then I drop my hand and they die <3

Very similar result to the battle cry ability in Mirrodin Besieged. I can see this being played in one of those decks.

This card isn't that bad as it looks, but it forces you to play too much into the theme to be useful. I also hate that it's so "easy" to get to threshold just when you want to (in Limited/Casual/non-competitive, of course).
Overall, Odyssey was too Spike-y, and this cycle didn't help.

Play out a bunch of goblins and Greater Good then play this lol. sac a few goblins for 9 or 10 cards in hand, play another one of these! Helps to have some mana accel in your deck, like skirk prospector.

@Channelblaze No. You don't get to keep this if it's countered. You play this like any other card, the text resolves as a whole if/when it resolves. Why would you get to keep it..?
What makes this good is that you don't discard until resolution. By that point it can't be countered so your opponent doesn't have much time.. let's say..to 6 for 1 you. Keep in mind.. it still can happen if you're not careful.
Fog effects, Time Stop, and various other instant speed effects can ruin your day, but should be somewhat predictable.

Name of the card should be Last-Ditch Effort because unless you have some good card draw in your deck, discarding your entire hand could be Game Over.

Read the card as "if you have just attacked with 3 unblocked creatures, all the cards in your hand are now free lightning bolts".
It is game over, because if you're getting in with 3-4 creatures and have 3-4 cards in hand, you've just won.
there are a lot of better ways to build a deck but this is an instant speed overrun for R. That's pretty significant.
Many a mage has died to this card in pauper format.

The only problem I see with this is the "discard a card at random" but in the proper deck or with the proper hand... well, instant Tibalt that is actually useful?
