I could work with this...now all I need to do is make it happen. I see this with Reinforcements, then have a Boros-ish deck and go with it.

U-B-E-R I run four of these in my Soldier deck with four Daru Warchiefs to help cast empty my hand.

imagine playing this and hitting 4 Captains of the Watch.
13 creatures for 4 mana.

Works with Crib Swap, and any other changeling spell....

Slide this guy into play with Preeminent Captain for free white weenie card advantage. slide those into play with Preeminent Captain next turn. zing!

@Darkfury: Into your hand.
Still pretty good, though.

Kor Skyfisher can bounce this guy a couple of times in a soldier deck to reap a good deal of card advantage. Daru Warchief and Ballyrush Banneret can help you cast your refilled hand quickly and overrun your opponent.
Seems like the enlistment officer should have chosen a better time to gather recruits than on the front line in a battle against Phyrexians...

Why have I never heard of this soldier version of Goblin Ringleader? It seems like it could be just as brutal—I mean it's white card draw!

This thing is straight up busted. If you are running your soldier deck correctly, you should easily get 2-3 creatures off of this. It is also easy to cast due to the fact that you are either 1) not paying its full mana cost (daru warchief and/or ballyrush banneret) or 2) not even paying mana to play it (preeminent captain)
