Awesome in Exalted decks, since the new attacker won't cancel the bonus from Exalted.

Putting another Preeminent into play won't trigger his ability. He never attacks, he's just put into play tapped and attacking.

@pensaint: When you attack with Preeminent Captain, he allows you to put a soldier onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. If you use this to get a second Captain, his ability will not trigger because when he entered the battlefield under your control he was already attacking; you haven't declared an attack with him.
However, using Preeminent Captain to blast in a high-costing soldier like Captain of the Watch is almost always a good play. You'd have two 3/3 attackers, and an additional three 2/2's waiting on the defense.

If I declared Preeminent Captain as an attacker and put a Captain of the Watch on the battlefield, is Captain of the Watch tapped? Captain of the Watch has Vigilance.

@ClowWizardEriol: Yes, he would be tapped, even though he has vigilance.

Magic is too clever. They made an ability for the soldiers to gain haste like goblins and a better one. I imagine the best possible hand you can have with this in your hand is like so: 1st turn: Elite Vanguard 2nd turn: Raise the alarm(opponents turn), opponent's life is 18. 3rd turn: Preeminent Capt., opponent's life is 14. 4th turn: Play any spell(s) that buffs your creature then attack, your opponent may take 18 damage.

Definitely a very important piece to my kithkin deck, I like having him with Mirror-Sigil Sergeant.

This card is just fantastic. I wish Daru Warchief had not rolled out from extended. these two together with some other soldier creatures like captain of the watch could really end the game in two rounds in a well designed deck.

@jumpenrun.
the best would be
1. plains, elite vanguard 2. plains. honor of the pure, swing for 3 opponents life 17 3. plains. preeminent captain. swing for 3 opponents life 14 4. plains. honor of the pure, honor of the pure. swing with elite vanguard and preeminent captain. drop captain of the watch from preeminent captain. swinging for 18... opponents life -4.... :)

This creature disgusts me to the nth degree lol. My ideal play is this: Turn 1: Elite Vanguard Turn 2: Lightning Greaves, equip to Vanguard (why not, right?). Swing and opponent is at 18. Turn 3: Preeminent Captain, equip to Preeminent, attack and drop Captain of the Watch. Opponent is at 9. Turn 4: Play Daru Warchief, equip to Warchief, attack and drop another Captain of the Watch. Opponent is at -27. It's funny how Lightning Greaves seems like it was made for this guy, since it comes out turn 2 with equip 0.

I don't know why this card is rated so high (4.70+). His casting cost is three, which is a fair cost, but not spectacular. Very good card, works well with Captain of the Watch, but not a superb card. I prefer Field Marshal in the '3 slot' instead of this, especially with Raise the Alarm. Overall 4/5.

Hmm, if you could get him in an eldrazi deck, then use Conspiracy or an equivalent, the possibilities are endless.

Flood your opponents with Kithkin for the good times. With Militia's Pride things will get hairy in no time at all.
But have your thought of splashing blue? (Although it's not even urgently necessary:) Play him with Sun Quan, Lord of Wu, and your attackers will likely all survive since your opponent most probably won't have any creatures with Horsemanship. In other words, while Su Quan is in play, all your creatures will be pretty much unblockable. And he's a 4/4 himself. Sounds pretty devasting for something caused by an attack from a three-drop. Sun Ce, Young Conquerer also does a good job since he can unsummon your biggest threat (or maybe even Captain of the Watch if you want to use her cip/etb trigger again.)

I use Preeminent Captain to get Darien, King of Kjeldor out on turn three or four. Usually your opponents won't have something big enough to kill the King that early, but if they do you might as well have a Veteran's Armaments or two out to maximize the attack. Also try with Rhox Pikemaster.
at @pensaint: If he is attacking he attacks and vice versa. If you are attacking someone you made an active decision to attack. The creature also attacks and is attacking. So if you have three of them a Daru warchief or anything that makes them cheaper go crazy. If he was not meant to used in that way there would be a ruling on this card not to be used in that way.

Very good to run with Gustcloak Savior and So, you can attack non-stop with him every turn without worrying to get him killed. Hero of Bladehold isn't a soldier, but still nice to attack every turn without fear Soon, you'll have a bunch of soldier that will attack non-stop. Throw a skullclamp to clamp a couple soldier to draw like a blue wiz and you are in business !
