Casting this on turn five with Prismatic Omen in play = WIN.

Really fun card in pretty much any 5 color deck.

I just figured out a really fun way to break this card. Let's just say hypothetically I'll play this card then use something to make all my lands Swamps. 10+ points of burn for the CMC of Lava Axe!

This card is really sick. Just play it in a mono green deck using Prismatic Omen and some good creatures, and your opponents are just about dead by turn 5 !

Waaay better than Cruel Ultimatum. and it even increases in power as you put more lands into play! Awesome with the new Landfall mechanic :)

Haha! No. Not remotely better than Cruel Ultimatum. Because it is only super effective if you've got Pristmatic Omen in play--and you simply cannot rely on that, especially if prismatic omen's only purpose is to fuel this card. Even then, it affects board position less than Cruel Ultimatum.

Guys, try to use it with Elsewhere Flask

Not bad, but I could think of thinks I would prefer to do something with, like turning the black ability into mind sludge, which would make this card insane.

eh.

I can't see this being too helpful. The most likely of cases would be:
Opp. loses 2 life
deal 1 damage
draw 1 card, discard 1
gain 2 life
put 2 tokens into play (the extra is because ur deck probably uses green to fuel it)

though, with Master's Edition II lands or Ravnica lands, I love this card.

love this card, only drawback is the discard if you have a lot of islands or a prismatic omen in late game, but it seems with a name like Last Stand there would be some killer drawback that would make you lose the next turn if your opponent didn't die from it, that would make it a tricky card but i give it a 4.5/5 just for the discard

4x Sakura Tribe-Elder
4x Search for Tomorrow
4x Tribal Flames
4x Worldly Council
4x Matca Rioters
4x Maelstrom Archangel
1x Progenitus
3x Last Stand
2x Violent Ultimatum
2x Cruel Ultimatum
4x Prismatic Omen
24x lands (primarily forests)

It works. Free-casting Proggy off an Archangel is scary. Casting Last Stand with the Omen out is scarier usually, because it's generally game-ending - average of 14 damage, and that's a dead creature, 14 life, 7 saprolings, and most likely another something scary in my hand from the seven cards drawn.

Esprel's right, actually. If you use this card the way it was printed to be used (with one or two of each land type) it's actually pretty underwhelming. Maybe magic's just come a long way since Apocalypse, but nowadays I expect a lot more when I pay {W}{U}{B}{R}{G}.

Ironically, a modern enchantment, Prismatic Omen, raised this card up to the force to be reckoned with that its name and cost suggests it should be. With Prismatic Omen in play, by the time you can play Last Stand you will have at least +10 life, target player loses 10 life, 5 damage to target creature, 5 1/1 saprolings in play, and draw/discard 5 cards.

That'll pretty much give you the game in most cases. If the 10 life loss doesn't end the game outright, the saprolings and life gain should keep you alive long enough to use the second one (or another bomb) you probably just drew.

The only thing wrong with this card is the fact that you discard as many cards as you draw, meaning that if it's the last card in your hand, you basically mill yourself and draw nothing.

And why do people say it kills on turn 5 with Omen ? 2x5 = 10, not 20. Unless I'm missing something.

I use it in a 5-color deck comprised of all dual lands (Badlands, etc..). While very powerful in that deck, it's pretty limited in other deck types unless featuring the aforementioned Prismatic Omen. IMO, 4-5 stars in those decks, 1 star in other decks.

For this card's flavor I'm imagining a planeswalker just going berserk and casting random spells in every direction.

Guys, this card is amazing. My preferred deck style is 5 color, and this card has proven to be extremely efficient, even to the point of mopping my superfriends deck to the floor. I ran into the discarding issue when i ran this card recently, and eldrazi may be the way to fix that. also, when yu combine this card with cards like maelstrom nexus and prismatic omen, yu can really rush things out, especially if yu cascade into a land rush card. other cards that break this card are walk the aeons and dawnglow infusion, keeping yourself alive until you set up for the big kill.

Of course, green ability is the best, blue is the worst. My brother runs green, I run blue. Figures.

With Prismatic Omen and five land in play:

Target Opponent loses 10 life.
Deal 5 damage divided as you choose among any number of target creatures.
Put 5 1/1 Green Saproling Tokens into play.
Gain 10 life.
Draw 5 cards, then discard 5.

This card should have been written as follows:

Everything
{WUBRG}
Sorcery

You do everything, because you are Superman. Good job.

the last line, discard that many cards. kills this card for me, I did all that work just to have at least one of every land in my domain deck and now I have to discard a card. man *** dat this card should give you card advantage!

Cruel Ultimatum requires 7 mana. So it requires 7 land (or other mana acceleration)
Last Stand can do 14 damage 7 damage divided as you choose 7 1/1 saprolings gain 14 life Draw 7 and discard 7 (with Prismatic Omen). I would say this is not bad compared to Cruel ultimatum. In many situations, better actually.

this card really needs Prismatic Omen in order to be effective. Unless you run a massive 5 color deck, you won't be able to get the most of this.

there should be more wubrg cards. and they shouldn't be like this one.

Cast with a Composite Golem with nonbasic lands then sac it and the card does nothing!!! Why would you want to do that? I don't know but it can be done so why not.

It just occurred to me that this only targets one creature, could it then be pointed at Ink-Treader Nephilim for MASSIVE effect?

This is one of very few cards that actually rewards you greatly for using dual lands (either originals or ravnica lands) instead of basic lands.
