i agree 7 mana is a wee bit expensive for this guy he is a really cool card don't get me wrong but he is a 6/4 for 7 mana may be if he was a 6/6 he would be worth it

SHoulda been stronger, considering land fetching wasnt easy back in apocalypse for enemy colors

Land fetching is always easy in green, even in apocalypse. He's pricey but he's begging for a Psionic Gift or something, since it's not necessarily combat damage.

If this was printed today, it would probably cost 2 less. So sad that it's so expensive, cuz this is a really neat card.

Should be less expensive. I also built a U/B/G deck. Anyway awesome card!

Well, he costs 7 mana and if he doesn't get removed immediately he'll probably die to a 4/4 the first time he attacks. On the other hand, you're almost guaranteed to get some trample damage through, which will trigger the ability. So you'll get to remove a mid-size creature, draw a card, and make your opponent discard one. Not the worst use of 7 mana, but not the best either.
Also, has anyone noticed that they messed up on the mana cost symbols? If you look at any other multicolored card, they put the color symbols in clockwise order, starting from white, so green should always be last.

Seeing as he's called "Fungal Shambler" I really wish he had the Fungusaur ability. Then he would be well worth the cost.

Well balanced for it's casting cost. People tend to think they don't need to pay for a big body these days.

So yeah, it was printed in the same block as Flametongue Kavu! :) Unfortunately for this card, we now have Dimir Cutpurse, which is able to hit your opponent early in the game where he or she actually ~has~ cards to discard.. Then again, you can always make your opponent discards cards that you just bounced to make way for your fungus! :) By the way, this card doesn't need to deal "combat" damage to activate its abilities..

@achilleselbow: I used to think that, but then I realized that actually, in enemy colored cards, they show the main color (i.e. ) then its two enemies in order (i.e. , then )

Well I think he is well costed, mostly because of the word "damage" and not "combat damage" so you can equip it with say a Viridian Longbow and do a pretty good late game lock while getting you an extra card.
Its one of those cards that is really well costed because it can do so much, nowadays it would honestly be cheaper or better, players don't like playing 7 drops that don't do anything right away.

Mindleech Mass provides much the same advantage. Dimir Cutpurse does it with a lot more speed. Spiritmonger was from the same set. After all that, I still kind of like this guy. I just... trust the fungus.

i wanna love this card... but it doesnt... i... i HATE subtler effects on larer creatures. trample+discard effect just feels weird. and an unchecked 6power trampler will end the game before the discard effect becomes too much of an issue, in a lot of cases.

One of the rare wedge cards, in this time. And it captures the intersection of the colors well - trample from , card draw from , discard from .

Fun with Quicksilver Dagger. Tap him at the end of the opponents draw step: deal 1 damage, draw two cards, opponent discards a card. :)
Giving him double strike is pretty neat too. Since it kills most blockers with int he first strike combat damage step, the lower toughness ain't such a drawback then. Thanks to the trample, the damaeg in the regular combat step won't be wasted, even if the shambler gets blocked. And if it deals more damage then necessary, you draw two cards and make your opponent discard two cards.
I'm kind of annoyed that there's no shard of alara, I am now going to name my new deck "shardless"

This guy could find new life in a good The Mimeoplasm Commander deck. Have the legendary ooze come in as a copy of this with the counters of something like Death's Shadow and you have a hell of a force to be reckoned with.
