Would only be worth playing in standard if it was 2 toughness. They really had to make all the exalted cards simple as hell to get rid of didn't they? flames of the firebrand takes out this, your knight of infamy and your knight of glory in one fel swoop. Great for drafts tho I suppose.

Smells like a trap. Duty-bound dead is far better.

Does she have external ribs or something?

Great to draft, but useless in any constructed format unless you have something like Akroma's Memorial on the battlefield to prevent all that pesky red and black 1-point global pings.

Some seriously sick art on a bad card. In limited, I've still had this hit for 4. Most people don't want to trade their awesome Sentinel Spider, or Yeva for your measly 4/2. Surprising how often people let it through :P

Tigt beat me to it.
This card is a little MS-Paint action away from being the breast card ever.

this thing is wicked in limited. 4-power on turn 3 is the kind of thing you can build around.

Pro tip: Attack with this card when you have other exalted creatures. You will hit hard!

Well, compare it to Bloodrage Vampire:

Bloodrage Vampire:

Pros:
- If it becomes a 4/2, it's permanent
- Is a Black Vampire, a better tribal than a Black Human Cleric
- Doesn't need to attack alone to get the bonus

Cons:
- The bonus is situational: You need to have an extra spell or attacker beforehand to get the bonus
- If not Bloodthirst-ed, always remains a 3/1

Servant of Nerfarox:

Pros:
- Helps tougher creatures when attacking
- If attacking, can become stronger (with other Exalted cards)

Cons:
- Only gets bonus when attacking
- Forces you to attack with only one creature per turn
- If it doesn't attack, it isn't a great blocker
- If it doesn't attack alone, it's susceptible to chumps

On this note, I'd declare Bloodrage Vampire a better 2Black cost, limited core set creature that initially starts as a 3/1.

I opened a single M13 fat pack, and pulled eight of these little buggers. Hate 'em. They're not bad...it's just that they're not very good. 2.5/5

Wow! Nefarox's servants are way hotter than Volrath's!

I won't try toooooo hard to redeem this card from a playability standpoint, but I do have a lot of affection for her. Her art is absolutely gorgeous, with the muted tones, desolate landscape, the surreal upward- or downward-floating blood (I've taken to calling her "Jam-Fountain Worshipper" whenever I cast her) and her look of calm concentration. Her flavour text and facial expression conveys polite, straightforward, unconcealed ambition, and, in a nice subversion of the trope where black-mana-flavoured women must usually look as "tit-splosion" as possible, she wears - a dress. A nice dress. It looks - comfortable. She is a strangely sensible-looking little cultist, and I will always make room for her in any deck I can. :3

Plus, speaking from casual-land - she's not bad. I agree, it would be nice if she had 2 toughness; but she pumps my main attacker the turn she comes down, and then either takes over hitting duties next turn or provides a blocker that trades with early-game threats. The kind of decks I play her in tend to have a lot of first-strike available, so I've never found her top-heavy-ness too crippling.

I'm a soft old Vorthos who will never compete at even local tournament level, but doggone it, I pay money for Magic cards like the rest of us, and I say, a toast to Servant of Nefarox and her kind! Pour me a glass of jam anytime.

Card quality is all about access, and you have to evaluate a card in that context. In a limited/kitchen table format, it's a quality card. There are better 3 drops out there. But there are a LOT worse. Black exalted is a solid aggro strategy. Duty-bound Dead into Knight of Infamy into this gal means you are swinging in hard, and if you have removal for your turn 4 play, you're sticking your damage to any creature based deck and winning the race. Cute non Standard interaction? Her tribal is relevant with Xathrid Necromancer, making trading even less enjoyable for your opponent.
