Hmm... should I play this or should I play Rumbling Slum decisions decisions.

This and Rumbling Slum are doing one of those slow motion running hug scenes

I am a pro and I recommend this card in many decks. Road elementals are quite rare these days and also this card is splashable.

Ahaha, Lotsofpoopy is making a catchphrase for himself. "I am a pro"
Anyways, hilarious flavor. I guess it got sick of being the path on which devils use rolling temblor.

I think R&D had a mission in RtR.
They wanted to show that anyone who wasn't associated with a guild SUCKED.

The only vanilla 5/2 creature in the game.

I'm sorry, Mr. Brute, but I'm still gonna have to go with my Minotaurs, Ruinous Minotaur and Gorehorn Minotaur instead. However, I suppose this spells the end of Incurable Ogre's reign. And yet, I still miss Arc Runner.
He certainly isn't great, but he's certainly not the worst thing in the world either. I think it's a good teaching card in that it'll make newer players want to play with it, but they'll later go on to realize that he isn't as good as originally thought.

Love the callback to Rumbling Slum. Too bad it's not as good. Otherwise, I'd make a cool manland deck without any ACTUAL manlands.

Not the most playable card but the flavor is lovely.

Rather dull and unimpressive, and yet still superior to a lot of other drek that's cropped up over the years, particularly among larger common creatures. Hey, it does deal 5 damage for only 4 mana, and it is arguably better than all the various 3/3's for 3R that have shown up over the years.
Constructed worthy? Of course not. But draft worthy? 4.5/5, at least.
5 power for 4 keeps a lot of ugly attackers back while you hit your opponent with cheap Azorious flyers every turn. Went with a U/W/R Stall deck at my local draft and took home the gold thanks to basic beefy red guys like this. Not to mention if you give him flying with New Prahv Guildmage lol.

This, in a draft, with Teleportal, or any evasion.
Good, unexpected, stuff.

This card really isn't bad; it's balanced and fills a niche. Powerful but vulnerable vanilla. Compare to Lightning Elemental (or Hill Giant...) at the same rarity and mana cost.

3/5. 5/2 for 4 isn't bad. Strictly a limited card.

Needs- Sacrifice a Land : +__/+__ until end of turn. Use this ability no more than once per turn. Especially with that flavor text.

You should have the option of creating one of these when you use Street Spasm

Cool art / text. Equip with Cobbled Wings for an amusing flavour combo.
I honestly have no idea why I love this card so much. Maybe it's the art, maybe it's the general flavour, maybe it's the P/T. Maybe it's all of those things.
This is probably my inner Timmy talking, but those 5/2 stats just invite you to try and find a way to make this guy work. I can't be the only person here who finds the mental image of a hunk of rock punching the opponent in the face for 5 deeply satisfying.
People will complain about Cobblebrute's toughness and say that it'll just get burnt away. Of course it will, but remember that the majority of creatures can be removed with the proper spell. It still means that your opponent spent a kill spell on your creature, that's 1-for-1 in card advantage and not usually a terrible thing.
Having such lopsided stats will almost guarantee that your opponent will want to block this guy, and that's not a bad thing. Knowing what your opponent will do is never a bad thing, people.
Simply take advantage of the situation and plan ahead. The Izzet seem to be the implied owners of this guy, so why not look to them for assistance? Downsize needs some love and Weapon Surge sounds even better.
The sheer joy of using underplayed cards just adds to this guy's appeal, so I guess you could say that he inspires that strange sort of Johnny player.
What I'm getting at is that this card doesn't deserve a two-star rating like other cards deserve a two-star rating (I think we can all agree that Fall of the Gavel lacks charm); this card has an inherent appeal that makes it enjoyable to use and makes Magic a richer game overall.
Honestly, we need more cards like Cobblebrute; intriguing little cogs that challenge us players to use our imaginations and to create a deck that synergizes well. Magic is like a team sport, with 60 players per team and a total need for co-operation. Cards shouldn't be able to win the game on their own (I'm looking at you, Baneslayer Angel), 1-card-win-conditions deny Magic the creativity that makes it such a good game, and it denies us the creativity that make us such great players. For the sake of all that makes Magic the Gathering fun and inspiring, we need Cobblebrute.
