I much prefer this card to Plummet, that's good versatility.

Just in case Caw-Blade gets too good, folks.

destory target flyer of artifact ..... um sure why not... wait thats awesome! a sideboard card you dont need to hide in sideboard, seeing as most decks i wager have at least a few of one of those two so random choices

This card is the epitome of green removal. I could definitely see this reprinted in a core set.

"Choose One" : The best line you can ever see on a mono colored card.

Such versatility in a common is rare indeed. As mentioned, this is a sideboard card you would be happy main-decking. This card will definitely see play in limited; probably will see play in constructed as well.

Commander Review: another "average" card. Flyers are quite popular in Commander, with people often beeing fan of dragon Commanders, and artifacts that you want to kill are there often too. I myself wouldn't add it to my decks, since I prefer such spells to at least cantrip, or be even more versatile, but for a generic Commander deck it's no bad card.

So...did Liliana turn herself into an owl, or is the flavor text just totally irrelevant?

This card saved my butt every single time I drew it at prerelease. A real under the radar gem.

Favorite green common instant. The one way my casual elf deck ever loses is against a heavy lifelink/flyer deck, or against decks with swords and protection from green. Oh wait, never mind I will just run 4 of these and all problems solved. I was so stoked when I saw this as a spoiler, I wanted it more than any other card in the set >.>

Compare to Putrefy.

Playable as a sideboard card against UW Delver? It's kinda like a green instant-speed Oblivion Ring against them.

@TheDrifter
Are you saying this is better or worse than Putrefy?

Putrefy may hit more creatures, but this is not only one less colored mana in it's cost, but also mono-colored. So there really is no comparison. Both fill two different roles.

Seriously better than it looks. In an environment full of nasty artifacts like Swords, Batterskulls, Pods, and Golem tokens, and evil flyers like Delver, Drogskol Captain, Inkmoth, and Angelic Destiny, this is Mono-green's best friend. Why drop a Beast Within if you don't have to? Why not run both?

3.5 from me in general, but definitely a 4 or more inside standard.

@Majinara: it kind of depends on your meta, but I would never rate this card less than 3.5 for commander games.
For starters, dragons represent only a tiny part of all the flying commanders out there. There's also Kaalia, Vish Kal, Sharuum, Olivia Voldaren and any angels or demons, just to name a few. Secondly, you're not limited to commanders.
The artifact part is also great. I wonder how many games I've watched could have been turned with one well-placed artifact destruction spell at the right time.
Sure, you prefer your removal to be more versatile than this. The only removal spells I can think of in color that are strictly more versatile than this one are Desert Twister and Beast Within, but those are only 2. And who wouldn't like their removal to AT LEAST cantrip?
In sum, everyone hates you for your "Commander Reviews" in every single card I looked at from DKA, so please die in the most painful and lulzy way possible. Thank you.

This card reminds me of Dawnglare Invoker and Merfolk Skyscout. Above average cards that have amazing flavor text that has NOTHING to do with the art or the card itself. Are there any other cards like this?

There's an article floating around here in dailymtg.com that talks about how they needed to put this card in the file for green, but couldn't get particularly good flavor for something that broke artifacts but also something that destroyed (only) creatures that could fly. So they settled on this despite not being very happy with it.
I think they should have gone with a drop. call it "Precipitous Fall" or something like that, because if you drop something mechanical it breaks, and something flying has a long way to fall. Also it would need new art and flavor text. But let's face it, that flavor text is pretty much tacked on there.

Not particularly impressive, but it could definitely show up in some sideboards considering the current metagame.

Almost a mono-green Charm, but one mana more for one less option.

@ Lord_of_the_Real - Garruk, unaware that the veil's curse has driven him insane, threatens an owl that he thinks is Liliana in disguise. Ironically, the owl's name happens to be Liliana Vess, and like all animals it understands Garruk's words. While attempting to flee, it gets tangled in a vine.

That much is obvious from the art and flavour text.

What you really should be wondering is: where does the artifact come into it?
