Why all the hate? Black doesn't get a whole lot of pure LD these days, and this seems to be at around the typical cost that WotC is setting for cards of that type, even though off-color cards tend to cost more. That's not even all it does! And it's not some poop-on-a-shoe block exclusive effect, like Scorch the Fields. This may be nowhere good but I will give it points for creativity.

I guess you could run it in a deck with Mind Funeral.

It's sad that Wizards never prints decent LD.

I am a pro therefore I noticed that this wonderful spell not only destroys land, but it also mills!

I am not a pro, but I notice that it can destroy any land. Great for removing truly annoying RTR lands like Rogue's Passage and Grove of the Guardian (Promo).

The mill part is just a bonus.

May have some home in a BU mill deck. Stalls while you mill in addition to performing the job your deck wants to accomplish.

Still would never want more than 2 at best.

AT BEST

If this card is in your deck and you are playing anything but Limited then you're doing something wrong. This is way, way too expensive for LD and way too weak for mill. So you have a card that does two things really poorly but costs enough that it ought to do them very well. No thanks.

When you see this in your draft, don't forget: People will be playing fragile, fragile colour fixes. Add that to the increased efficiency of mill in limited and you've got yourself a decent draft strategy.

Kinda interesting effect, similar to one swing with a Trepanation Blade with added LD. Unfortunately, WAY to freaking expensive to tickle my jollies.

I am not saying that it is an amazing card, but it really isn't that bad. First off, its land destruction, as said above, ANY land which includes the extremely valuable dual lands. Second, the flavor is absolutely amazing. Third, by the time this is played you hopefully have more than one of these in your hand, when you play them one turn after another, the only thing they can hope to draw is land cards which basically means your freezing their mana AND their draw with 1 card. The real limiting factors is the cost but it really isn't a bad card and it is a card that mills that is not meant for milling which can be misleading.

Poor mechanically, but not totally unplayable. Interesting flavor, too.

This card will excell in limited, B/U mill has a new tool to do scary things with. Take out their rogue's passage or the one island they finally drew after all that time.

As for those of you crying "meh, its not cost efficient" you've gotta realize that no 3cmc destroy land cards have been made since 10th edition and mirrodin. You can almost make this card cost for 2, since you have the chance to mill between 1-10(+) cards with a single spell. You at least get to mill the next land they would've drawn, which may screw their color table even more.

Now, when they start making creatures that destroy lands or exile them is when we'll see the glorious return of my land destro deck. This card is definitely a supreme candidate for mill, land destruction. Maybe it'll see a spot In my doorkeeper/axebane guardian mill/defender deck, since i can mana fix the whole thing anyhow. Decisions...

4/5 for being the best land destroy in years, and for flavor!

Very situational, but would mill decks that thin themselves with Boundless Realms.

Oh, Dimir. Of course "everyone knew" what Ravnica's most secretest of guilds was up to, and even who hired them to do it.

I'm actually glad land destruction is sparse and confined mostly to usefulness in limited; I think the mana system is actually something of a weak point for magic (no matter how skilled the deck builders, a significant percentage of games will be non-games because one side or the other is mana screwed). I think widespread LD is something that would expand on one of the game's least fun areas and reduce the overall experience, but that's just my opinion.

This isn't situational, this is a great card if you're good at math...it's at minimum a 3/5, but you have to know why it's good...This is a mill card all the way...3/5

2/5. Land destruction and mill for 5. Not bad but not great either.

Guaranteed to put two lands in an opponent's graveyard, and possibly more. Not terribly bad.

5 mana for LD is really expensive. Even with the mill tagged on, your paying 5 to remove a land at sorcery speed.
.5/5, I really dislike limited cards, I think eternal blue hit the nail on the head.

5 mana may be a bit much, but that's potentially a HUGE chunk of mill attached.

It's an expensive card, but it actually works well with Chronic Flooding. Most people are playing two color decks in this block, so you can remove whichever color land they have fewest of and slap chronic flooding on the others of that color. Then you have forced them to mill or be mana-screwed, either of which is favorable. Destroy the evidence also ensures they miss their next land draw. Goes well with Balustrade Spy and Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker. I can't see the point of playing outside of a mill deck, however.
