I do not think costing this at 2BB would have been overpowered for a vanilla creature. Still, it's just another creature destined for Limited play and then tossed aside until some unknowing soul tries to build a Slug tribal deck with it. The artwork is pretty, though.

Slug tribal really needs to get its act together. This is the 5th slug in Magic (or 6th, counting Un-sets). And it's not so good either.

...black, overcosted, heavy defensive card?
I'm actually not too peeved here. This card fills an excellent niche in Limited: Giving Rakdos access to decent blockers that they'd otherwise have to forgo unleashing for.

Pretty bad, even in Limited. However, the more creepy-crawlies in Magic the better, imo.

How totally random. As another member stated, random power and toughness vanilla creatures seems to be a theme this set. I have no idea how a 2/6 represents a huge slug, but whatever.
It would have been interesting to give it "last strike" but make it huge, or some other silly ability that at least made sense for slugs even if the end result was equally underwhelming. So, now we have a slug that needs two Hill Giants to kill?!
Expensive wall, rubbish. I like the art and 'slug' creature type though.

Serves its role in limited- definitely not horrible there. Everywhere else... well... it's a slug! :D

lol when i saw the stats i was like well playable at cmc3 but probably they costed it 2bb then i saw...cmc 5...this is likely the worst vanilla in the game, certainly in the last 5-10 years

who would EVER put this in ANY deck? 5 mana for a TWO six with NO abilities?!?!

@Radagast: I think the point is that it's too sluggish to put that much momentum in its attacks (whatever they'd be...trying to fling its forebody onto you?), hence just 2 power. 6 toughness--boneless can mean resilient.

Oh boy another slug for my underwhelming slug deck!

I'm a big fan of the art, but this slug just won't cut it for any deck of mine.

Can't stand to be in the same universe with cards like these.

1/5. A 2/6 for 5? Strictly for the limited environment.
...Hmmmmm...it's a slug. It's a common, and it's defensive which is kind of strange for black. The casting cost isn't great. The most notable thing is that I can't stop looking at it for some reason, so I guess that's something.

Why couldn't it eat a creature in a graveyard when it came out?

Nice art, horrible card.

For Catacomb Slug, I'd give:
Whenever a creature dies, put a slime counter on Catacomb Slug.
Catacomb Slug has +1/+0 for each slime counter on it.
