The hatred is unwarranted. Sure, 3/3 for five isn't good. But 3/3 that when it dies eats a sizable bit of a library, not bad. 2/5

in limited its a nice threat, if a little late game and takes up space for your bombs. take 3 damage or lose the top 5 cards of your deck. shame that the only common red burn spell in avacyn restored, Pillar of Flame exiles it (should you deal enough damage).

Seems like part of an unfinished mini-cycle of 5CMC 3/3s that do something when they die, alongside Pitchburn Devils and Polluted Dead. This is the worst one, by far. Ugliest one too, actually. And people say blue gets the best cards..

It's no Geralf's Mindcrusher, but then again, Geralf's Mindcrusher is no common.

Why haven't they made it a ETB effect instead to abuse it with flicker-effects?

This is exactly the kind of card that Undead Alchemist needed. All it takes with Undead Alchemist is connecting once and then it can get way out of control. With Undead Alchemist and this card on the field you are going to mill your opponent one way or another. The only way around this card is to exile it or use removal on Undead Alchemist.

NoobOfLore is right in that Geralf's Mindcrusher is better, but is much harder to come across in a pack. If anything, It serves to augment the Mindcrusher: it comes out a turn faster, but doesn't cause a mill effect until it dies. At common, this more than balances the card against the rare Mindcrusher. Each has their uses.

Say that last sentence of the flavour-text 3 times quickly, and you've got a tongue-twister.
