Gives birth to geist babies. Also, is depicted in a certain scene in Ghostbusters. And yes, Kryptnyt, here comes the flood.

The art makes me like it more than Summoner's Bane.

Who you gonna call?
Oh wait, this thing makes 'geists.' So I'm not sure what the snatch part is then. Guess they already had something called remove soul

You don't want to wake up hung over next to a geist snatch.
Sorry guys, I had to.

I know this is bad, I just know it. However, a part of me really wants to see it utilized in some sort of deck where it's the main (only?) method of victory. I'm thinking perhaps 36 Counterspells, +4 Geist Snatches + 20 Islands. Perhaps not; but it might be entertaining at least.

I honestly don't know what I would do. Tempted to add this into my token deck, just to see how it would work anyway. It counters a spell, AND gives me a token I could block with, benefited by TWO of my anthem effects that would be great. Better replacement for most of the current 4 costs I have.

Do not be fooled by the current rating and mana cost. This card is absurdly good. Lingering Souls good.
I was playing against a guy at the prerealease who had three of these in his deck. I admit I was mana screwed and didn't get my best cards out, but I don't think that it mattered. And there is nothing, and I mean nothing, more frustrating than finally getting out a creature only to have it countered as soon as it gets in and then having your opponent GET a creature to attack you with.
Judging by the comments so far I have a hunch that this is going to be one of the more underated cards in this set. Big mistake.

Two cards in 1, this card gives you card advantage... It cancels their creature ala Remove Soul, then puts out a 1/1 flier of a relevant type in this block for . All for the use of 1 card. 4/5

If you ever find yourself in the mood for something exotic, go ahead and spice things up by tossing the occasional geist snatch into the mix. Keep it casual though, as geist snatch is ultimately too insubstantial to see really heavy use. You will often find yourself getting frustrated waiting for a chance to interact with geist snatch as it just sits there, tantalizingly out of reach.

This card seems like it could be really good, but I wonder how effective it can actually be since Cavern of Souls was printed in the exact same set.

I had three of these in my deck during the last draft I attended. Was one of the best cards I had, very frustrating to the opponent when they can't play any of their creatures and I keep adding flyers to my side. I won all three of my matches on the back of this card.

The issue with this is the mana cost. You can play essence scatter for only 2 mana. Sure this gives you a 1/1 spirit token with flying but talrands invocation gives you two 2/2 drakes with flying for the same price. If this gave you one more spirit or cost 1 less than it might be more easily playable but as is i wouldn't run more than one in a deck.

Flavor-wise it makes sense, but for the cost it really should have been counter any spell, not just creature.

A blue spirit token you say? Interesting...

I would have really loved this at ... A more restrictive cancel (can only hit creature-spells), that rewards the caster with a token for the additional narrowness of the counter....
My guess is that they playtested it at somewhere along the way, and decided that it needed to be more for limited.... at CMC 3, this would have been a neat card for casual, and would have probably been a reasonably high pick in limited, but as it is, it's just a little bit 'meh'... certainly not constructed-viable I don't think, but that's not the role this card was designed to fill.
