Not sure this had to be a rare. I guess it's for the sake of Limited, but it seems underwhelming for what it is. As mentioned, great creature steal in Commander.

It won't be seeing constructed play anytime soon, but this is a surprisingly good card in draft if you go Blue/X control. Makes a good finisher and gets a pesky card out of the way.

I was a little disappointed when I found this at a rare, considering that Mind Control costs 5 CMC at an uncommon. I'm not entirely sure if the addition of flying and +2/+2 for additional 2 CMC justifies the bumping up to rare.

Aaron Forsythe has discussed how Mind Control is a power uncommon in limited. This could be the the move to higher rarities for theft auras that he hinted at last year.

Simple math. It's good it doesn't give it +1/+1 counters, since then it'd be stronger when it goes back to play under your opponent.

obviously you never played EDH. Sure this was a better then usual set for EDH, but it was just as good all around. It was great for limited and standered.
