Perfect against self-centered Shapeshifter decks too!

If knights vs dragons has a goblin subtheme this guy might just show up. Could make for some good times.

Ahhh, Tivadar, Goblins just aren't what they used to be...

I beg to differ BrutalJim. Devout Lightcaster is like this against black and with a more powerful kill ability and no first strike as well as is also harder to splash. She is very good, but i do not think the better ETB ability justifies not having first strike, so Tividar wins in my book. He can be in the main deck against other colors, what with being a 2/2 with first strike for 3. She merely becomes sideboard fodder. Opinions may differ, but i rest my case.

So is this guy a knight or a human lord? I was searching for knight type creatures and this came up. But he's printed as a human lord.

It would have been more legendary if his effect mirrored Tivadar's Crusade. Though I guess then what would the point of Tivadar's crusade be? Oh well. I would have had him give all creatures pro red and possibly "Tap: destroy target Goblin" or somthing.

So he's card removal that evades bolts & strikes 1st.. Not the BEST body but if it was, he'd be broken. All for 3 cmc. Nice.

@TPmanW: It's a pity he didn't show up in that Duel Deck. On the other hand, players would have been disappointed to see this guy taking one of the five rare slots.
Maybe Wizards would have decided to reprint him as an uncommon if he wasn't a legend (which probably wouldn't show up in a duel deck anyways), although they probably don't change the rarity of a card in a duel deck in the first place...
He would really have suited into Duel Decks: Knights vs. Dragons too well: He's a white knight with protection from red, and the dragon deck contained seven goblin cards in total (if you count Fire-Belly Changeling and Dragon Fooder.)
None of these goblins are a big threat, but maybe they still considered him to be too strong there as another Silver Knight that could only be harmed by Henge Guardian and Ghostfire. I'd gladly have him seen him instead of White Knight in the deck, though :P

Decent card, especially since Goblin decks are one of the staples that you'll see while playing. Although I agree that it didn't really need to be a legendary as it's very similar to a _lot_ of other knights out there for the same (or less) casting cost.

"Sir Tuktuk, you are hereby found guilty of harbouring a dangerous Golem and have been sentenced to death."
His blade came down on the neck of the goblin.

no reason to play this in Commander unless you really want to make a statement how racist against Goblins you are. (narrow targeted removal against a tribe that is not worth using narrow targeted hate when you can just use normal board wiping hate that also hurts non-goblin decks)
but, if you ARE just really racist against Goblins, in THAT case, he should be your general! xD

Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.
The card represents Tivadar of Thorn, a zealous knight who led the Knights of Thorn and waged Tivadar's Crusade during the events of The Dark. He is also quoted on Morale. His flavor text implies that he was ripped from his home timeline and dumped into Time Spiral-era during his Crusade.

hes good for against the 'that *** guy 12yo' that always wants to play with his goblin deck at the local card shop
Morale, Knights of Thorn, and Tivadar's Crusade
