Mini-Mutilate. Quite nice. Works pretty well with Phyrexian creatures' -X/-X abilities if you need to take down bigger creatures and/or creatures with Indestructibility.

Why is this rated so high?

I kind of like the flavor text. As for the effect, it's not all that bad if you're using a sorcery based deck or creatures with nasty effect abilities.

First they tease us with Marsh Casualties but honestly, 3BlackBlack for a newb-safe Infest is a bit much. This is Black, you're suppose to set the field up so killing your own creatures hurts your opponent more than their own things dying.

Then they gave us Shrivel. While it was no Infest, it was better than nothing.

Now that all three of them have cycled out, they toss jank like Curse of Death's Hold at us and expect us to like it. Overcosted, overrarity (unless you consider it means you pull less of them).

Black Sun's Zenith is our only salvation now. And it's not going to last forever.

I miss you...

I prefer the Zenith, but infest is certainly a great card. Kills vampires deck :D
