@blindthrall It's better than Millstone if you're running a blue deck already. Same CMC, one fewer cost to tap.

Not sure about constructed, but one of these guys in limited adds up real quick. Combine it with Jace's Erasure, and you are suddenly buring through a 40 card deck in short order.
The 1/2 body helps a lot, as she can chump-block little guys while she's doing her thing.

Love that you can't ping her away in one shot, makes her better than Cathartic Adept right there. By herself, not too impressive. Get two or three of her out and bring the pain.

Not as effective as Drowner Initiate in my opinion. I like that Merfolk Mesmerist is a 1/2 rather than a 1/1, but I would rather see it as a simple {Tap}: Effect.
This card is slightly better than Millstone in my opinion simply because it can serve as a blocker and costs {1} less to activate the mill ability.
The art is cool and so is the flavor text, but I give this card a 3.5 out of 5 for effectiveness.

I like her as a mill card. She gets 3.5/5 from me because although Hedron Crab is better and Tome Scour is better, neither are currently in standard, the Crab is 8x more in price, and Tome Scour only occurs once. It's the same reason why Millstone "can" be considered "better" than Tome Scour.

Not a great card really, but it's okay. In limited it will win games simply because of the 40-card decks it's milling instead of 60.
