This card needed to be printed for a long time now. Its Screeching Sliver but a little better and a little worse. All in all its a mill card that comes online quick.

I like the card for its simple elegance, but for a dedicated mill strategy it is not good (defensive) enough.

Drowner Initiate is better, but leaving standard soon, so meh.

A reasonably useful card for a deck-drain strategy. Not much else to say.

Works great with my High Tide, Fatestitcher, and Pemmin's Aura combo. Drop him first turn and you have something to do to your opponent when you get infinite mana on third turn. Also gets the fatestitcher into the graveyard after a turn two brainstorm or a lucky ponder.

This card is still INSANE for a one-drop people. Think about it tap this every time after they've picked up a land. You can slow their game tempo quite a bit.

The Ultimate flipping of the bird. You can never tell for certain whether he is or isn't.

He's a wizard, so he can participate in wizard benefiting combos and effects. His activated ability is a minor milling effect. The activated effect doesn't require mana so your mana is free for other things, while Drowner Initiate produces a greater effect but costs mana and blue spells (yours or opponent's) to use. It all comes down to preference.

What gets me is how unpleasant and unhealthy he looks, and his flavor text. He's an ugly but (perhaps compassionate?) resident of the Grixis shard.

Who cares if he's ugly? He's trying to give some uplifting advice. Most cards in MtG don't do that.

Let’s say your opponent casts a spell you want to counter. Respond by activating this, then respond to your own activation by casting Memory Lapse. The spell will be countered, then go to the top of your opponent’s library, where it will then get milled into his/her graveyard!

Oh wait a minute. Any ordinary counter sends cards to the graveyard anyway! Whoops. Ignore…
