Awww... without the flavor text from 7th, 8th and 9th editions, it's just not worth it.

Well... Every set needs an underpowered, limited-only creature at Common. Better creatures definitely exist in this block.

Also, boo for not having the old flavour text.

It doesn't think
It doesn't feel
It doesn't laugh or cry
All it does from dusk to dawn
Is make the soldiers die

Great new art... but as far as Reprints go, there were many better choices. Phyrexian Walker would have been amazing as a compleated Memnite.

I have to stand up for the old artwork. The previous version was twisted and menacing, with really crisp detail; it fit nicely with the core set reprints' flavor text perfectly. This new version looks muted, cartoony, and hardly phyrexian at all.

The fourth-wall breaking new flavor text makes it even harder to take it seriously. We get it: this is not the first printing of this card.

Still not very good, but it adds muscle to any limited deck which is a good thing. It has a purpose and does it well, something its phyrexian creators would be proud of.

This still isnt Obsi*** golem! He's just too broken to consider for reprint.

Never thought I'd have something to debate taking Razorfield Rhino over...

Oh wait, that was me at the New Phyrexia midnight sealed deck prerelease when I opened a Skithiryx and a Hand of the Praetors in my packs.

Sorry for sideboarding you, big guy. You just weren't my win condition.

I have to agree,
I really wanted this guy to have his old flavor text.
It made him feel so much more epic than he actually is.

S c u mbling:

"This new version looks muted, cartoony, and hardly phyrexian at all."

In other words, a poster child for the juxtaposition between new phyrexia and old phyrexia.

The flavor text has pretty terrible grammar. Then again, I suppose that that tends to be par for the course with Magic cards.

7th Edition had the best art too, so I guess all around this reprint was poorly done.

This card isn't even good as far as overcosted high mana artifact creatures in draft go.

In the 6-7 range of late pick fatties, we already have:

Razorfield Thresher - CMC of 7 for a 6/4 - these two are close enough
Hexplate Golem - CMC of 7 for a 5/7 - This is pretty unquestionably better for the cost.
Razorfield Rhino - CMC of 6 for a 4/4 with a +2/+2 Metalcraft - Again, this is pretty unquestionably better, unless you're just playing next to no artifacts; which, in draft, is highly unlikely that you're not running at least 4 or 5.
Thundering Tanadon - CMC of 6 (as low as 4) for a 5/4 with trample - The best of the grounp, but this one isn't really in the same league as it's a late round pick. But really though, comparing them as both commons seems almost laughable.

Even when you get down to things like Solition, Tangle Hulk and even the lowly Saberclaw Golem - this card just seems really bad, even when compared to other bad cards.

1000 times strictly worse than Wurmcoil Engine. But then again Wurmcoil Engine dies to 3 Doom Blades.

I don't know why all of you hate the new flavor text that much.
Sure, the old one was cooler, and we know the reason why this dude got reprinted.
But the flavor text practically refers to its older prints and their flavor text (although the one from Tempest is the only one bound to a story line, and the cherished one from 7th Edition up to the Duel Decks reprint aren't part of a storyline)

While this one seems like the most iconic example, it already got various prints and a very recent one in a Duel Deck, so i can understand if you think there would have been better 'Phyrexian' reprint choices. But this one was mainly meant for draft anyways.
And when you go through the list you'll notice most would either take in a rare slot or have an ability that wouldn't have suited to New Phyrexia. Phyrexian Walker, Phyrexian Gremlins and Phyrexian War Beast are the only ones i could imagine for this slot. (While the Gremlins aren't an artifact, they would have made an intersting draft pick. Then they could even watch for your opponent's Gremlin Mine :D)

They needed a reason to downgrade it to common from Uncommmon, so they scrapped the awesome flavor text.

Why can Wurmcoil Engine do stuff like that even though it costs the same?

All the card does is brings back memories when magic was a real game with mana burn... Beloved 7th how I miss thee.

It isn't good; It doesn't work;

Its cost is much too high--

And now they took away the flavor text;

I kinda want to cry!

WAAAA!

I don't understand; why are they reprinting it in M13 as an uncommon?

A prime example of powercreep.

How you ask? Well, compare him to pretty much every other artifact creature in block. He doesn't stack favorably. But he used to be at the very least respected, even if he wasn't a creature slaying bomb of a card. And even with the new costs for artifacts (6 for a small deity), I still think he's one of my favorites. He's exactly how artifacts should be, inefficient but flexible.

Also, art is bawse, don't know what everyone's complaining about.

The art appears to be a zoomed in version of Rally the Forces. Seriously, look at the big guy in the back. Pose seem familiar?

This was right where it should have been in terms of rarity. A pretty crap card, but it's half-decent in Limited. Then again, most things are. 2/5; at uncommon it would instead be 0.5/5.

Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that this Phyrexian weapon of ages past is LESS powerful overall than an angry Streetsweeper in Ravnica? A 5/4 for 6 vs. a 4/6 with a random little ability for the same casting cost? The Phyrexians have really been slipping lately, or this was more of a failed experiment of ages past vs. a quality weapon. And it still loses to Wurmcoil Engine - badly.

Wurmcoil Engine.
I wish R&D would start giving junk cards a buff and tone down power cards. Still needs to be a gap, but not such an obnoxious one.
