I have a VERY important question... WHERE CAN I GET THIS!!!! because this is a card i remember playing with when i was 6 and i want to get a copy for nostalgia (and the fact that this is the only card i would concievably put next to black lotus for mana accel)
edit: Ok, so i now know that these (from the vaults set) are due to be released as of aug 27th (2010) and will be available for a short time period

The artwork is AWESOME. And the card's power is insane. I agree, turn 1 artifact land this, turn 2 tinker. Now that would be awesome...

Criminal that one person out of 43 rated it less than 5, but thats to be expected. Definitely looks sexy and pumped to use it on mtgo! With mana crypt and tolarian the potential is infinite, not to mention nearly every other strategy greatly benefiting from the acceleration. I hear its banned though on Commander, not gonna be pleased if that turns out to be true since i was about to play my first commander game, and my deck plan woulda liked a turn 1 sol ring... But yet again what player wouldnt want a turn 1 Ring for the Win? 5.1/5

This is simply some of the best, most beautiful Magic art I've ever seen. It's very cool to know the flavor of how one creates a Sol Ring.
Also, the card is still pretty much bonkers.

The artist in me appreciated the appearance.. The blue combo player in me appreciated the freekin universal mana ramp that can be used instantly.. to make more. I just realized that. You can play a sol ring and tap it to play another sol ring, amounting for six freeking mana turn 2, 10 if your lucky enough to have four

On a scale of 1-5 Sol Ring is a solid 12. Anyone who doesnt think so clearly hasnt played with one. There is a good reason this card is restricted.
Sol Rings can be found on online card stores all over the web for $7 and up.

This card is a good example of how a card doesn't have to be printed recently to be considered powerful. I always wonder how powercreep can be considered all that bad right now when most of the best cards in Magic have been around from or almost from the beginning. This card is good enough it'd be banned from my meta if anyone managed to get their fingers on one.

Most of the FTV:Relics cards replace the original, charming art with rather bland "clean" art, which is quite a shame (which is not to say that all new art has no charm, simply the art they've chosen for these remakes). See the new Isochron Scepter to see what I mean.
However, this new art represents the foreboding power of Sol Ring really well. The flavor text also goes along wonderfully with the reprint, making it quite clear that we won't be seeing a card like this again any time soon.
5/5 for the new art. I really don't think I need to go into why the card deserves 5/5 for power as well.

First of, "mexican" is not a language. They speak spanish in mexico. Second, "sol" is a latin word. It means sun. This is why a lot of words pertaining to the sun have that prefix. For example, "solar".

Ok, who here thought YouLose20Life was serious? Count out five fingers, and apply directly to your face. It was the most obvious troll I've seen on Gatherer.

Huh, I guess this is the only way to get the astonishing new art in foil form, since the Commander decks don't have foils.
Admittedly I got the Relics after seeing the art for Nevinyrral's Disk, and noticing they were selling pretty cheap. Didn't notice Sol Ring in the lineup until I opened it. This was a nice, nice, nice, nice bonus to find.

I'd rate it less than five because it's simply TOO good. When a card is so good there's no reason to not have it in your deck, well it shouldn't get a 5 for sure.
That said, It is a staple of magic history, and is no doubt a good card so It's hard to give it any less than a 4.5.

"One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."
J.R.R. Tokien said it best. This ring is definitely a monster. Paying mana to produce . You basically rampant growth on Turn 1, yes that just happened. If you have 2 Sol Rings in your opening hand, the game has just become out of reach for your opponent, just have a 5 mana lead to their 1 mana. Its basically like a quadruple stone rain. I don't know how anyone can give this less than a 4.5, simply amazing card.

So in order to make one of these you need to trap light from a distant star into a ring of pure gold. And this complex craft is no longer known by current artificers. And the thing costs {1}. Being the most overpowered mana rock in the game aside, I like the flavor text but it just doesn't fit this card.

I really thought this art was spectacular; I'm glad the card has found a home in EDH where it previously was a card too powerful for most casual settings and too expensive for most to run it as a vintage only card (as most things in vintage are scary expensive.)
