Very good when you are running something that doesn't have black, or your playing blue and want something better than extract.

The Ice Age art for this card was better! 4/5

I wouldn't say this is the worst card in Relics...this card has several to-the-moon combos under its belt, whereas some of the other cards here are simply utility. Good utility, but utility.

i love both versions of the art.

Agreed with Lion, Ice Age art blows this one out of the water. Still a great card though, super fun to put together a jester deck, even if it's not too feasible.

Why is this so good? I mean, there's always sadistic sacrament, earwig squad, lobotomy, etc. 6 mana for this is kinda redundant. 3/5

This is a version of those that can go in any color, All of those are either black (or splashed black).
Classic Sideboard tech, though I haven't seen it in many vintage decklists.

An ecpensive colouless sadistic sacrament, unless you're running some fishy artifact combo deck.
Probably the worst card in Relics, but powerful nonetheless.

Play this card in a deck centred around Glissa, the Traitor and you have the potential to really abuse this card.

I used to love this card, actually had a deck built around it. If everything went okay, I could play two of these per turn, every turn until the opponents' libraries consisted of nothing but land. But most strategies are is completely crippled if you play two of these.
We didn't do much with restrictions back then, so Jester's Cap combined anything that brings back artifacts from the graveyard, Argivian Archaeologists, for example and Reconstructions and probably some more I can't remember anymore. It was a long long time ago.

I got myself one of these for EDH after one too many combo decks had their way with me. A giant middle finger to them, especially with Myr Retriever, Arcbound Reclaimer, Academy Ruins, etc.
It becomes a whole lot more powerful in singleton formats, basically.

Question:
It doesn't say reveal or target but when they are exiled, can I exile them face down? Darn Mimeoplasms.

This card is a huge blow to EDH decks, if you know exactly what they're going to be playing.
It can take out a person's entire strategy very quickly.

Remove enemy win condition from the game? Why not?

Any one rember when regardless of what deck you where playing this was an auto in? 20 bucks a pop and you also built decks with the idead of what will get caped
I'm looking at this debating putting it sideboard in a burn deck. Occasionally you run into an Obliterator and those are quite difficult to get rid of, considering that the person playing it will be running discard as well.

You know, when Ice Age first came out, Jester's Cap became the "most annoying card in Magic". Jester's Mask was also printed in this set, but wasn't used nearly as much, taking longer to cast and activate. Prior to Ice Age, there was no way to look through your opponent's entire deck. Your library was like your sanctuary, a safe zone that the enemy could not enter. Many of us considered the effect from Jester's Cap to be a violation of privacy, a trespass of sorts. Especially when you have to allow a complete stranger to paw through your deck. It can definitely make one nervous. This effect also takes a lot of surprise out of the game, revealing the entire contents of your carefully crafted deck to your opponent. When playing casual games with strangers, it was not unusual back in the day for both players to agree to not use any "Jester" cards.
Tempest came out with an even worse annoyance, grimly called "Lobotomy", which takes a total of only 4 mana and also eliminates cards in hand as well as library. Later sets pushed the envelope further, with an entire 5-color cycle in Urza's Destiny (Scour, etc.) until finally in Odyssey they made a card called "Extract", that lets you oogle at all the cards in your opponent's deck on the VERY FIRST TURN for 1 blue mana. If I was on the design team, I would never have allowed any cards like these to be printed. Yeah... I'm anticipating a flurry of 0.5 star ratings for this comment, from the "power is all I care about" Spike crowd.

This is all about EDH nowadays. Use it to cripple a fragile strategy before it gets going, or stall a Maelstrom Wanderer deck. I've even used it to recover my own tucked commander. So many uses, and nobody likes to see it coming.
