you might say it has 'limited' use. -wink- nah, but seriously it's pretty bad.

Worked well in prerelease, instant speed flying for 0 mana at the point of use is great in itself, and the card draw is a bonus.

Aether Spellbomb was my favorite spellbomb from Mirrodin, and I had high hopes for the new blue spellbomb, but my hopes have been dashed.

Don't underestimate these in limited. But yeah, the old blue spellbomb was much better. They added the bounce effect to the blue replica instead, which is also not as good as the old blue replica.

New spellbomb cycle is disappointingly weak; with the exception of Origin Spellbomb and, for sideboard, Nihil Spellbomb, they seem useful only for Limited play.

The flying part can be totally ignored. The only useful thing this does imho is to draw you a card if you sac it to some effect. But it's kinda annoying it requires blue mana. 1/5

This is a much better card in limited than most realize. Flying blockers are scarce in limited, so this card will usually get one of your creatures through. Using it on an infect creature is good, and getting a card out of it is even better. It also gets you closer to Metalcraft.

Aether Spellbomb just feels more awesome and has more of a bluey feel
Fun card. Not too strong, good ability for a cheap price, relatively splash-able.

I don't understand the hate for the new spell bombs. The effects are weaker because they are off-color effects with on-color cantrip capability at instant speed. They still only cost {1} and get all the benefits that come with that cost, and you get the card draw in addition to their effect, rather than needing to pick one or the other.
