Just bought four to replace my M10 playset.
The new art is much better.
I'm going to miss the flavor text though.
The new text just isn't as cool.

Flavor text comes and goes. But after you cast it thirty times, you stop reading the card. But you NEVER get tired of looking at this sweet sweet artwork...

This is a bomb in limited. There are very few answers for it.
Best Case you steal a bomb and you win with it. Second best, they kill their own guy resulting in no less than a 2 for 1 They remove your aura and its just a 1 for 1, not great but whatever you stole probably didn't crash into your face this turn.
This will always be a bomb in whatever limited format it is in. Plus the art is just fantastic
4/5 for the awesome card, plus the other 1/5 for the great artwork! 5/5 for sure.

5/5 just for the artwork. Thank you Wizards for that, the previous version was an abomination, disgusting in the sight of man or beast.
Plus, it rocks in limited. Removal + a creature, what more could you want? No good in constructed, of course, but that's not what it's for.

I love the new art as many others have said, the ogre.. thingy.. on the original was interesting but also made me think of grendel everytime I saw it. I'm thinking that's a vedalken possibly, as you can see if you look up close that the skin of the mind controller is blue, and that there's some new legendary creature he's mind controlling there, otherwise its blue white jace (who has been supposedly deciding if he is good or evil for a while now despite the fact he is obviously good). The flavor text is just fine.
Mind control is always good, its a basic 2 for 1 assuming your opponent has no enchantment counters, and of course you can always play it alongside a bloodthrone vampire so if you're opponent does try to destroy the enchant you can simply have your vampire "eat it" and move on.

A permanental change of the controlled player is black in my opinion.
Therefore anything, including Annex should have been black. It's against the law and blue should still honor this. In addition, I would like to see a knight under black mind control as a symbol of a Fallen Knight, lost hope or whatever.

"Damn is that a Baneslayer?" "Yep, and it's swinging at you for 5." "Ok... how much did that cost?" "$50 dollars." "Oh... that's a shame." "Huh?" *plays control magic* "Cuz it only took $.25 to steal it."
Love this card.

Heard an argument at the hobby shop last night. When a creature becomes mind control'd and changes owners, does it get summoning sickness?

What happens if somebody puts a mind control on a card, then somebody else puts a mind control on the same creature? and by the way, yes the creature does get summoning sickness again.

Great card, greater artwork...and a slight letdown on the flavor text.

Any idea why this has a higher rating than Persuasion, since they're the same thing? :) Well, Persuasion is susceptible to Duh, but I doubt that's a factor in any serious game. :)

I can't decide if I like this art, or the DCI promo art better.
I like the card, but it would have been cool if the flavour text was "Zoink!" instead :P

Okay.
Strictly worse than Control Magic.

I saw a mere Shadow Warrior change hands 3 times today, thanks to both players running playsets of Mind Control. Each player had so many walls that only the Shadow Warrior could successfully attack.

@gaffy00 you dont put a creature with infect in a deck with no other infect creatures. same reason you dont want to take over a creature and give it infect when you have no other infect creatures. except when its a leviathan or darksteel colossus or something like that.
I wanted to make the rules clear on one of these to help newer players: -If mind control is destroyed, the creature goes to the player who's control it came under control of first, not the last player who controlled it. This is important at times, say, for Treacherous Pit-Dweller
-If you Mind Control a creature and so does your opponent, the most recent effect takes precedence. If the latest mind control is destroyed, the most recent mind control still attached to the creature will take effect again. When they're all destroyed, see the above.
-If/when Mind control becomes unattached, the creature is returned as a *state-based* effect, I.E. in between the resolution of spells when any player gets priority but before they can use it. This means you cannot, for instance, Boomerang Mind Control and then cloudshift the creature on the stack to keep it, nor can you do it vice versa.

Whomever cast the last Mind Control on the creature will be in possession of it; the newer effect will overwrite the old.
And there are strictly better cards than this...
but nonetheless it's cool.
