It's a cheap sliver to fill in as it accepts sliver effects.

think this is more useful for other cards adding effects with 1 extra silver on board than it receiving the effect due to being only 1/1. not useful outside of a sliver deck, however. 3/5..

Not useful outside of a sliver deck? It's meant to be used against them. Every sliver they have gives it more abilities and power. Of course, once Sliver Overlord hits the board, you end up handing this guy over.

I think sweepers are meant to be used against slivers, as they are the epitome of overextension.

The wonderful thing about slivers is slivers are wonderful things their bodies are made out of sinew they've got muscles on top of their wings they're hasted, trample, shroud, and shadow plus one plus one plus one but the most wonderful thing about slivers is there... is more than one!

Probably one of the most overrated cards on gatherer imo. Just because it's a sliver doesn't make it a 4/5. I mean think about it, instead of this you could have another sliver that actually does something in your deck. And if you're sideboarding this in against slivers, that's a slightly better use I guess, but there are better options. Like any boardwipe ever. Waste of a card, I think. 2.5/5 only because it is a one drop 1/1 in any color. @pedrodyl: It's an anti-sliver sliver. It's not meant to be used in a sliver deck but rather against one. For that reason, it's a 4/5.

Having a sliver on your first turn is a big deal. When you drop your gemhide on T2 this guy will be untapped and you can play a second one with the mana. By T3 you have 6 mana available to drop just about any other sliver.
