I think he'd be a decent blocker for early in the game, but really, after Sporecap Spider from RotE he should have some sort of other ability in addition to being a 1/5 for 3.
Cards like this give me the feeling that low-cost White creatures are supposed to suck 90% of the time.

He's one tough loxo. Pretty viable creature in limited, when you decide to go artifact-light (most other white creatures got metalcraft and stuff)

Loxodon Wayfarer is a good wall as a 1/5, but he is a pretty high cost card. He isn't very good unless equipped with other equipment or enchantments but without them, he serves as a wall.
