In what circumstances would a card like this be useful in a scars of mirrodin sealed?

It's this set's version of the Core set artifact series.

"We meet again at last. The circle is now complete." Or, at least, the Cycle is now complete.

I played this thing at the prerelease. Believe it or not, but it wasn't all that bad in that environment. It helped me with metalcraft and it often ended up gaining me 10+ lives per game.

Hard to be excited about this though.

That's funny, i just totally have a déjà vu.
Although i didn't see this card before, it always looked familiar to me. Maybe because that's exactly how i've imagined that artifact if it was printed in Darksteel along with the color-Cycle (Angel's Feather, Kraken's Eye, Demon's Horn, Dragon's Claw and Wurm's Tooth)

NecroticNobody:

That cycle was first printed in Darksteel. Not the core sets. That's why it completes the cycle.

Sheesh.

OK so the other cards in the cycle are all colors. So why isn't this make you gain life from colorless spells instead of just artifacts? I want eldrazis to give me life!!

"Whenever a player casts an artifact spell, you may add 1 to your mana pool, spend this mana only on activated abilities of artifacts you control.

1: Gain 1 Life, play this ability only when a player plays an artifact spell and only once for each artifact."

Fixed. Next card.

Can be fun, but hasn't been nearly as effective as the representative life gain for my Golem Deck as other cheap life gain from this release (Golden Urn actually proves amazingly effective)

Now we need a creature, instant, sorcery, enchantment, land, and planeswalker version.

Something that makes Razor Boomerang useful! Use with artifact spell decreasers (so-to-speak) for the win!

I think this (and the others of the cycle) are brilliant in casual. Lob one in your deck and if you get it on the field early on it's going to earn you a lot of life. Pointless against infect though, I admit.

Better synergy than it's counterparts because of metalcraft. Otherwise, just as rubbish.

This is actually really good. Out of the lifegain artifact cycle, this is easily one of the most exploitable.

just remember, It won't do any good against infect, but otherwise it can basically shut down oppoments if you play enough.

Find a true golem's heart is even harder than finding a true golem

Well, this isn't too bad. {2} mana in an artifact deck essentially becomes something like a sorcery saying;

{2}: You gain 10 life.

Or some number of about that level, considering how many artifacts you can ramp up to. At least it's better than the color ones, I'd say.
