It's no Mutavault, but if manland.dek works out, this should be one of its key players since it's a blank manland.

Hmm. Better or worse than Gargoyle Castle, do you think?

mutavault is rare, so is gargoyle castle, for what it is, which is an uncommon i love this card, i do not know if i will ever play him, but he is a great card none the less.

I won multiple games at the pre release today because my opponent forgot I had this guy out and they attacked, thinking that their creatures were safe. I guess people don't really look at the lands that well.

I absolutely adore this guy. He's got a big punch and he's also got the added benefit of not coming into play tapped, meaning you can tap him for man or use him as a defender on the turn he comes out. My absolute most favorite land in a long while!

This guy is such a workhorse in limited! I just got back from a draft, and his 4 power in a pinch easily helped me steal more than two games once I had the board wiped. Fantastic creature for budget control or a little aggression where ya need it!

This is a great card for almost any deck. My favorite part is that it is a land until you activate it. Which means that a creature nuke card wont affect it. This thing single handedly won me many games against Wrath of God when my friend wasn't paying attention. Suddenly the next turn 2 4/2 Artifacts start hammering away.

this card works really well with elspeth... because i turn activate my dread statuary and then give it +3/+3 and flying... if craig wescoe plays it... it's good enough for me...

This is a great card because it gives you mana and if you need to use its ability its right there. It serves a dual purpose, land and defense.

At its worst, its a Mana you can use to play something else. At its best, Its a swinger for 4 that can also block and kill most early-game creatures. It also has the psychological effect of the opponnent never knowing whether he should attack, since he knows you have a nigh-upon untouchable blocker waiting there.

Also, so long as you didn't play the Manland THAT turn, it does NOT suffer summoning sickness.

great fun to pump him with steel overseer.
awesome in any arty deck as you don't need colored mana anyway.

Great card idea, I just hate how it's 4 mana for a 4/2 until end of turn. even 4/3 would have been cool, or 5/2 if they really wanna give a land such low toughness.

Lovely in mono-green:
"Beastmaster Ascension, and attack with 6 creatures."
"Ok, Day of Judgment."
"Ok, activate my Statuary, attack for 9. Good game."
"Oh, I forgot you had that."

Oh people this guy is soo good for real. I play casually and I have a playset of Mishra's Factory and 2 Celestial Collonade in my control deck, so I don't run this guy, but my buddy runs 2 or 3 all the time and they seriously work so good. I've played with them a couple times a while back, and they always came through. the fact that you don't have to sacrifice the land like Gargoyle Castle, or that it stays as a creature permanently like Stalking Stones makes this soo good. You can Wrath of God/Day of Judgment and then attack, and usually you'll have the mana when you're running the long game of Control. And it's out of reach of sorcery speed removal or aura's. And the 4 power is just huge. Stalking Stones is just too weak for a huge cost, and Gargoyle Castle loses the ability to add mana if you need it. This guy is a beautiful medium. Great card, and excellent in Standard.

If this creature is killed in battle does it go back to being a land or does it go to the graveyard?

Synergy with Precursor Golem, albeit risky.

@Twinsuit

Day of Judgement is a sorcery, your opponent cant play it during your turn.
There's only one Combat phase where you're able to attack. You could activate your Dread Statuary, but it couldn't attack unless you made it into a creature BEFORE you attacked.

Also, great card.

I do love my manlands, and this guy is no exception. Not coming into play tapped, always being colorless, and having epic flavor puts him on the top of my list. Lot of fun, definitely worth a play.

Manlands have great utility. Even the ones that die to Burst Lightning. That's one less kicked Burst Lightning at your face.

A solid, fair manland. I like the art on it. The numbers make it a little weak, but it's still a nice manland that is easy to obtain.

Thing about these kinds of cards is that even if you don't animate it even once, it only took a land slot, and made it colourless. Non-basic lands aren't there to be amazingly powerful, they are there to grant options without taking slots in your deck.

4.5/5 because it's balanced and cool.

Perfect land to stick x4 in a mono deck, assuming your not taking advantage of all basic land strat.
