I agree, I wish I could use him as a general, the "Rules" of EDH should be changed to any color the general could require. Although EDH is casual and I'm sure most people would prefer you use this as your mono-red general in comparison to the only other mono-red general I ever see, Heartless Hidetsugu.

EDH rules update: Now legal in EDH. Basically he'll let you play a solid red deck.
Other generals with mana symbols in their rules text are now likewise treated as if those symbols were part of their casting cost for the sake of deck legality.

Draco is probably your best bet, silly Gleemax combos aside. Note that, unlike Brion Stoutarm, he doesn't to fling, so can keep chucking artifacts at your opponent if you have the mana for it. And at worst, he can always fling himself for 8.

I like how his name is a reference to Karn, Silver Golem. Currently hunting down a copy of Bosh so I can build an EDH deck around him. So excited for this. It has Liquimetal Coating, so I can fling things like Chandra's Phoenix, and Planeswalkers.
