This card can be incredibly unfair, if you have a heavy hitter, then this becomes a "I gain a million life at turn" card. And even if the equipped creature dies then you can just reequip it.

well it should have stayed uncommon. it doesnt have to be bad to be uncommon or common. rares should be more complex. this is a very simple card. just evergreen keywords... no unique effects... just like baneslayer could have been an uncommon just because its simple. and serra angel at common. bsa is a little more complex with pro for two creature subtypes.

At uncommon, this ruined limited. It was way too inevitable in a limited where playing MD artifact hate isn't a good idea, or is hard to come by.

This card is infuriating. equip it to a flying creature and you get at least 4 life and 4 damage dealt every turn. put this on a decent card and all creatures in its path are destroyed, while still getting to deal damage and heal yourself. if you manage to destroy the creature, it only costs 3 mana to reequip it to another creature. a card this cheap should be banned.

@Perfect_Genetics This got bumped up to rare because it ruined Sealed and Draft when everybody had one or two of these in their pool, and it would show up ALL THE TIME. Though one could argue that it was rarity-bumped due to its popularity and effectiveness as a card, that's not a debate we'll get into ;p

I resent this card. The fact it is colourless but has such a white flavour, is so effective compared to other more interesting artifact equipment, and leaves me feeling that I somehow cheated when I use it to win!

I think it's because battle ends in a vowel and axe begins with one, and if you don't know that its a compound word, the 'ea' would be pronounced as in 'read'.
war and hammer don't have any such issue, and are pronounced the same no matter how you combine them.

While it is true that complex cards are often rare, it is not true that simple cards are not rare. Rarity is the means by which wizards can control the frequency of cards appearing in limited. If baneslayer were uncommon, multiple people would play multiples of it in sealed, it is much too powerful to be showing up like that in a limited environment.
