Why was this printed when we have Yavimaya Wurm?

This is an obvious Limited card, and a pretty draftable one. I don't get why it's rated so low.

Portal holdover, and it's just as bad now as it was then. We've gotten rid of Vizzerdrix and Trained Orgg, yet Spined Wurm remains.

The green Water Elemental. May only see the light of day in a wurm deck.

The final nail in this card's coffin was when they changed its epic 7th/8th edition flavor text.

God I love bad cards. So simple and easy to understand. The flavour of this creature fits well in a black/green deck.

This card is so average it makes me want to take all my cards and SNUGGLE with them
SNUGGLE SNUGGLE SNUGGLE

It works well with Overrun and obviously, Overwhelming Stampede, and is a good draftable card, like Greater Basilisk

Please don't judge me, but this is also a decent card on the XBOX Live Arcade MTG game, for it's overall averageness.
Yes, i do play it on my Xbox. Shut up.

I like this flavor text better.

As stunningly average (and sliding into poor) as this card is, compare it to Ironroot Treefolk and appreciate how even the bad Magic cards have gotten better with time.

Wurmcoil Engine eats this one for breakfast.
But, on the other hand, http://www.allmostexpensive.com/most-expensive-magic-card.html.

Perhaps a little under-powered, but I like it.

I pulled a foil one of these. I was amazed at how quickly my expression changed from "Ooo foil :D" to "Aww Spined Wurm D:"

Even thought my first Deck was this blue-sceada-thingy from 8th Edition, this worm was my favorite card in the awesome "how to play magic" cd from 9th core set.

I always picked green, because of this 5\4 body-power.
Black had some kind of Bug (4\2) and the other colors just 3\3 creatures, so in fact: The computer wasn't able to defeat my monster. muhahaha.
