Just off-frame: local imam telling conspicuous American soldiers that he'd rather deal with the Dutch. Ooh! Some (semi-)topical humour for you there. Unlike Tropical Humour, which sounds like something an 18th century sailor would contract from a teenage Polynesian girl.

Favorite land better than Library of Alexandria if you're trying to dig through your library

Just saw someone abuse this with Ichorid and the Grave-Troll at a Vintage tournament. It was pretty amazing to see, since I'd never seen the deck work before.

Okay...question (this is an old card so I need verification). Does this card let you go through your whole library to find your two cards or must they be taken from the top only? It doesn't say to reshuffle your library so I'm thinking it's the top two cards only, but verification from a high source would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

@joesayers1: Just go by the oracle text. Draw 2 and discard 3, no library searching and no shuffling required.

One of the five pillars of vintage.

It's funny that they see so much play these days, I remember when they were listed at $20 and you couldn't trade them for anything, no one wanted them, same with Time Vault, at that time it was errata to something like "You cannot untap Time Vault unless you skip a turn"

Took them a long time to say discard three cards

Very VERY overrated card. Vintage has been on the decline for 3 years now; everyone seems to be wanting to play Legacy these days over Vintage. Even in Vintage the problem is, because everything is now based on the 1st or 2nd turn kills, you can no longer effectively take advantage of what this card does (it generally took at least 2 to 3 turns before anyone who played this card could fully take advantage of what it could do, and you rarely won the game the first turn you used this card).

I bought my first Hylian Shield here but then it got eaten by a Like-Like.

question... this one says "take two cards" not draw, so doesn't that mean the card says i can take any two cards instead of just the top two? :P
lol, jk, jk, but ya, it seems like an old one, would be cool to see a reprint. I mean, its not game breaking as far as I can tell (unless you discard 3 Servitors then play another)

:O, funny how by themselves, some cards look sort unassuming, like this one here, or tendrils of agony.

i mean, its nice to be able to draw, but alone, this card might or might not be worth the possible early mana loss as well as the fact that you can really abuse it in normal decks because it lowers hand size.
Similarly, tendrils is an ok card that is unlikely to do huge amounts of damage in your typical black deck.

but then they get comboed with things like dredge and ad nauseam and things turn completely bonkers.

This card shouldn't be anything less than five stars. Anyone who doesn't understand the power of this card doesn't have to look any further than dredge cards like Golgari Grave-Troll and Stinkweed Imp. This one land (which means it can't be countered) single-handedly enables a dredge deck to mill itself completely in only one or two turns, since you use the two draws to dredge and use the 3 discard to pitch your dredgers back in the grave. With one's entire library in his graveyard, all he has to do is Dread Return something that wins him the game immediately and gg.

Proxy a bazaar dredge deck and see for yourself. You can mulligan down to ONE CARD and still win the game in only two or three turns if that one card is Bazaar of Baghdad.

the only rational card to debate "is this better than Black Lotus?" Obviously it's Easy to just say "of course not, Lotus Is Best.", but the thing to remember is that this card is the reason why the Dredge Deck don't need to PLAY Black Lotus, and in fact even if it could probably wouldn't Most of the time, and when it deigns to, that's sort of uncommon for it.

A deck that has the right to be haughty enough to look at the Black Lotus sitting right in its binder and say "I don't think I'll use it today", even when acquistion of the Lotus is no barrier, is a deck that counts enough to be solely responsible for a card being able to contend with Black Lotus for the coveted 'Top Card in Game'.

Time Walk? Yawgmoth's Will? They want mana to play, and while YawgWin is super extraordinarily powerful even by Vintage standards, you can play your Yawgmoth's Will combos better and faster if you have Lotus and Ancestral Recall and Moxen and more draw (you get the point) to Hyperdrive your Ramp Into Win. The cards that you intend to pay mana to cast all point towards Black Lotus being the Best.

Bazaar of Baghdad and Dredge question that assumption. It's a fair debate to at least have, even if you think the results will say Lotus is Still Best.

Laboratory Maniac + Bazaar of Baghdad + as many Dredge cards as you can put in a deck should lead to a pretty quick win.

"No spells may be cast between drawing and discarding cards."

A very self-aware Bazaar of Baghdad, catching cheaters since 1993.

man , i had 3 of these beauties.... all signed by jeff menges and he drew a genie bottle on one, a man on a flying carpet in the sky, and a monkey on the back of the closest arab in the picture for the last. I think i traded em for a a box of weatherlight a the time. DOH!
