Yea, because a 3/1 for 3 is just SO OVERPOWERED that it needed a terrible drawback. This is actually worse than Pearled Unicorn. Compare with Centaur Safeguard.

When he blocks other creatures he can still deal them combat damage. That's amazing!
Currently the lowest rated card on Gatherer. Frankly I think there's worse. Next lowest is Soldevi Steam Beast, then Ember Shot. I think Spiritual Sanctuary is the worst though.

I can't think of any way the soldier could ever be useful for anything. Any strategy it could be part of would probably have a better alternative. I can see the other creatures looking upon him with distain and saying "You, are USELESS."

At least Chimney Imp has evasion and can cost you opponent a draw. This is just a one time wall unless you do some shenanigans to prevent blocking it. GARBAGE! Combos with bike spokes.

I think a Protection from some color(s) could make this interesting card.... Otherwise keep this for defense (with 1 toughness ?) and wait for the right moment to attack? Probably could be combined somehow, but still for this mana cost it's not worthy.
