Pretty good in casual multiplayer, it will usually die before your first upkeep so it doesn't fit into every white deck.

"it will usually die before your first upkeep" it's truth.
The game ends before you play it using its costs.
Elvish Piper is nice to save some time.

My favorite card of all time.

She certainly isn't tourney quality, but she's great in casual, especially if you can get a whispersilk cloak on her. Then she's safe from most removal while necromancing all over the place and doing 4 to the dome each turn.

Awesome card-- but the cost is too rich for my blood to even consider using...
But I still give it a 5/5 rating cause it's still a VERY awesome angel! XD

you don't have to play the cost in a reanimation deck :)

There is nothing bad about the cost. I love this card, it's the first card I bought off of my brother who got me into this game!

She's the first Angel creature that I bought back in the days of Invasion. I love this card. I use it in my Animator deck. Buried alive and they all rise one by one.

Great fun casual card, and although the mana cost is really high, if you can get it out and not have it die immediately it'd be great fun!

You'd expect necromancy from demons, but angels? Oh well, guess it's the pure kind of animating the dead...
Awesome creature, highly costed of course, but a raise dead every upkeep is amazing.

As with most big angels, she belongs in a reanimator deck. Which is sad, you know. Pure white angels being played by majorly black decks.

For this reason I have her in a slow angel themed control deck and refuse to stick her in a reanimator deck.

This angel is just fantastic.

PPL complaining about mana cost...why will play and pay 9 mana for her? You'll be dead till then, use combos...

Obviously this card isn't designed to be hard-casted...

I tend to run a copy in every reanimation deck I build, just because it fits the theme so well. Only problem is that it's almost always better to directly reanimate the creature that'll lock my opponents down or kill them that turn instead of reanimated the Reya and waiting for her ability to resolve the next turn. Blazing Archon, Iona, Shield of Emeria and even Voidstone Gargoyle are all creatures I tend to pull out before this girly, even if she can pull them out a turn later herself. That turn is a doozy.

I think the old art with the uplit radiant "O"-face and spread legs was a little bit hotter as well. Love the short hair. She seems more tranquilly afterglowing in this picture. Angels in miniskirts is such a nice thought.

A nice card, she just cost so mana. I have the Duel of the planeswalkers game and I have not gotten a chance to summon her because I usually defeat the enemy (or lose) before I can draw her.

@BaconRadar - You could think of a pure white ream deck. Breath of Life Resurrection with some self mill or discard agent. Throw in some defence and walls u got urself a deck.

Breathtaking art and captivating flavor text. Great creature but difficult to hardcast. 5/5

@RedCarmine

No, the kicker only takes effect when you pay the cost. You only have the opportunity to pay the cost when you cast the spell. If you have a way to cast it without paying its mana cost then you can pay the additional kicker cost and the kicker will take effect. If you just put a creature into play you're not casting it so you can't even pay the kicker cost.

Rules question to everyone: If Reya brings back a creature with a kicker cost that was kicked before it went into the graveyard, does the kicker effect on that creature apply when it is put back on to the battlefield?

Edit: @SwordofKaldra

Thanks, the reason I ask is I was playing the Duels of the Planeswalkers game and Reya reanimated Kor Sanctifiers which I had countered earlier. They destroyed my Platinum Angel losing me the game, I wondered if I didn't fully understand kicker or it was just the game.

I worry about casting cost when looking at instants sorceries enchantments and artifacts.
this is a creature.... you don't even NEED white mana to play her...
I'm tempted to replace debtor's knell with her in my mono black deck just to prove my point.

after all why spend 7 mana on an enchantment when I can spend 3 mana and a sacrifice (that she will soon make up for) on a creature.

Sac a Scornful Egotist to Birthing Pod to bring her into play, then have her bring back the Egotist each turn so he can be saced to the Pod for more 9 mana beatsticks.

I have no idea why, but for some reason I associate this card's mana cost with the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. I think it's because I can't count or something, lol. Anyway, GREAT for Kaalia decks. Very synergystic.

I prefer Emeria the Sky Ruin it's easier to play and it can't be countered as easily (Or pretty much at all.)

It's kind of funny that a card which requires three white mana to hard cast is usually played by black decks.

I'm using Reya in my mono white angel edh deck. Quicksilver Amulet makes it easy to summon Reya, and she interacts amazingly well with all of the board sweepers in the deck.

first off let me start by saying that i LOVE this card! i am a massive fan of legendaery angels and especially this one. However, poor old Reya is a little too expensive when compared to some cards these days. Lets take Sheoldred, Whispering One for example. now Sheoldred has plus 2 power has an arguably better evasion AND makes our opponents sac a creature every turn as well as ressurecting one of ours. All this for 2 less manna! plus Sheoldred is a little bit more splashable in multicolored decks. Overall Reya is a little to expensive these days, however she has awesome artwork and very useful abitily especially in a mono white deck. overall a very good card. 4/5

Has no one thought to use her with Scion of the Ur-Dragon? 2 to dump any dragon directly to your graveyard only to reanimate it the next turn.

Strictly hotter than Sheoldred, Whispering One. But seriously, they overcosted her. She should cost like 7, but she's still playable in Kaalia, maybe even in Reanimator.

I absolutely loved the Invasion art for this card.
To be honest, Reya Dawnbringer is what got me into the game when I was a kid. I may have pilfered the card from a "friend" because of the art...and the rest is history.

Costly card, but great ability.

Of course they'd prolly kill reya dawnbringer first since it's pointless to kill kaliaa since reya will just bring her back but then they might not have two murder spells it's a combo that put em in a tough spot kaliaa will just keep bringing in fatties and reya will just keep bringing her back.

@BaconRadar

I can drop her on turn 4 with my W/G modern deck as of Avacyn Restored, so no tears anymore! (Assuming I got the three cards I need plus three lands in my opening hand or very recent card draws. I'll add it below for good measure)

Turn 1: Land, Mana dork.
Turn 2: Land, Somberwald sage.
Turn 3: Land, ether two more dorks or a ranger's path.
Turn 4: Any creature spell CMC 9 or less, or a noncreature spell 6 or less. Iona, Avacyn or Reya here can all be dropped at this point.
