There is a reason it is so narrow on its trap effect, black is its enemy color plus has the most power fliers currently.

If you look past that, I would still gladly pay 4 mana to kill a Baneslayer, especially in green.

Umm... I'm pretty sure it does work against a broodmate, as it counts as a black creature, and a red creature, and a green creature, and it has flying. Sure, you'll still have its "mate" to take care of, but 1 4/4 flying dragon is better than 2

All this card is is green's answer to vampires like vampiric nighthawk and is only really meant to be a sideboard card. Will definitely see even less use once zendikar is over.

Why pay 4 mana to get rid of something? The only way you could utilize the 1 mana cost is by a black creature coming into play that turn. Seems too situational to combo with Abyssal Persecutor.
