This is the greatest set for EDH to date.

Use a Jace, the Mind Sculptor or Halimar Depths to rig the top of your library (though yo might have trouble with the proper mana) and own face.

Overcosted, as half the color chart has cheap ways of dealing with this, and the other half has probably already killed you, and there's a 33% chance it does nothing. Funny flavor text though.

Do you just put back the card on your library after you reveal it?

Costly, but with library manipulation it puts your opponents on a very short clock.

I use lillana to search for a second one and then for an emrakul. that is 30 damage! another good combo is a BG deck, use -2 lillana to search for emrakul, baneful omen to deal 15, then next turn living destiny to gain 15, then lillana +1 and dicard him shuffling yout grave back, then +1 your opponent then repeat it all over again! 15 damage every 3 turn! plus all damage done other ways

Looks like this is a card that will work well with the Clash mechanic.

For some reason the fellow in the art reminds me of an old chinese person telling fortunes. Everytime I look at my baneful omen I hear this voice in my head saying "OOOOAAAH U RIKE MY BANEFUR OMAN?"

THIS + any of the NINJA or TRAP cards!
(Just because their CMC is high doesn't mean that's what you'll be paying for them.)

GREAT card.
Even if you dont win, it keeps your opponent on edge wondering whats going to be flipped from your deck. The emotional torment alone to your opponents is worth putting a couple of these in your deck.
I tossed in some Underworld Dreams, Pestilence and Curse of Wizardry for some added fun.

Just rebuilt my Vampire deck this morning, and it fits perfectly. Great for multiplayer games.

Dark Ritual can speed things up, but this card gets really nasty and takes effect right at the end step you play it. Love it. And I lol'd at the flavor text, I should just say it everytime I use the cards effect!

@trochy:
I see that you know of the great invention called the period, so I must ask you why you don't use it more often. It's such a convenient way of making your statements easier to understand.
And, OverfeindSurprise, I thought that Homelands was far, far worse.

what happens to the revealed card? Does it go into the graveyard?

When you reveal the card, it goes back onto the top of your library. Do not discard or draw, just put it back the way it was as if you hadn't looked at it.

Crystal Ball to rig the top. Expensive, but not terrible.

Built a deck on TCGPlayer around this. Too bad I can't play it.

This is still bad for Casual or EDH! For seven mana, you could play something like Blatant Thievery and immediately take charge of the board. But with this, you're bound to one activation per turn, and you're only attacking life totals. On top of that, you are attacking them with a random value. Sure, you could try and manipulate the top card of your library, but the rewards are still minimal. The best you can do is still only 16 in one shot, and that requires the inclusion of often-dead cards in your deck. Maybe if you got to Scry before the activation, and then only maybe would I even try to play this in EDH or Multiplayer. I've had others play this against me, and it always seems like too little, too late.

@scumbling
It shines most in team games, like two-headed, three-headed, or Archenemy. I've also found it nice with ramp spells and Oracle of Mul-daya, since you are very unlikely to hit land on the trigger. By no means incredibly powerful, but similarly, not at all "bad."

I wish it put the revealed card into my hand. Oh well, I'll just fill my deck with snow swamps and use Scrying Sheets to keep the top of my deck something big.

have Necropotence in play,
use Lilliana Vess to tutor up a big cost card on top of your library,
then just don't pull any more cards from Necro and burn the table for a few turns in a row

Fun, powerful, but not broken.
I want more cards like this.

I give it four stars just for the Archenemy format.

I love to pick op the top card so only I can see it, crack a grim smile, then state the flavor text.

That's first time I've heard someone encourage the use of Jace, the Mind Sculptor.

Flavour text sounds like one of the demons from Watcher's Keep in Baldur's Gate 2. You know, the one who challenges you to play him for the Deck of Many Things. And now that I've written it, Deck of Many Things sounds very MtG-ish....

Revealing big, scary creatures with this and saying "it's coming" in an ominous voice is always fun.
