Always seeking glory but never getting it. Poor bear soldier.

It's kinda mean... they were talking about how terrible Glory Seeker was in Eldrazi limited. Mentioned it in at least two of the preview articles. Then, they go and toss her in anyhow. It seems abusive.

lol, slightly better than silvercoat lion, just because of its creature type. But it's rediculous that they put her back in......AGAIN
But. it is a standard 2 drop card, and a basic creature for limited. Just like before, it is nothing special, but it is acceptable to put her in if you can't make up your mind on what to put in.

I'm fine with them printing a 2/2 for 1W, but I'm not fine when they have Knight of Cliffhaven, a 2/2 for 1W that can level up in the same rarity in the same set. 1 out of about every 109 newbies who start with this expansion will open their first booster pack, find both, and be thoroughly confused. I guess being a soldier counts for something.

Maybe it should have been printed in M11 instead.

Of all the cards to reprint, here comes one of the most boring and forgettable creatures ever. AGAIN.
I think WotC is punking us.

@Lagus: It is incredibly boring indeed, but according to all these comments it's not a forgettable creature for sure. That's a pretty infamous fellow actually.
It's that kind of card everyone knows but no one wants to know.

This is hilarious.
In any other set, this would be an ideal top-pick limited card. In this set...

Another white Grizzly Bears. The Soldier subtype helps, but the card is too weak for Constructed. It won't see much in Limited either due to the presence of Knights of Cliffhaven, which is strictly better (the Soldier subtype won't help you in Eldrazi Limited) and also a common.
Two-drops are popular in Limited, so I could see it getting occasional play in Booster Drafts if there are no Cliffhavens left, but overall there is little reason to play this card, even in Casual.

Wait... I thought Elite Vanguard was meant to be the Seeker who had finally found his glory (as in, you know, being playable). But no, apparently, one sex change operation later, (s)he is STILL searching... O_o

I love the flavor text, it gets a 4/5 just for that, and for being a perfectly average card too I suppose.

Nest Invader. Same cost, and you get something extra.. this guy is just.. 2/2

With the new art and flavor text, she would be nice in Magic 2011. Rise of the Eldrazi is not the best set for her.

I love how Wizards reprinted this just to demonstrate how awful it is in this set.

I remember back in the old days, people never bitched about a card that didnt have anything extra like this, they were meant as filler cards. Seems like people are just spoiled these days. "Its a 2/2 for 2 and doesnt have anything special? that card sucks! I want my big awesome effects for 1 Mana!"
i feel like half you people wont be happy until Wizards prints an Instant that costs one colorless that says "This spell can not be countered. You win."

I love how this gal is wearing the same armor as the 9th edition version. Just a female version of the same creature.

I was always confused as to why they printed Glory Seeker in Rise. For the next few weeks following the set's release, WIzards' home page was full of articles about how slow the format was designed to be, and as a consequence, how bad your typical Grizzly Bears were in that context. It was almost as if they didn't expect us to take their word for it.

It's a pretty solid card. Fine in pauper. But I love the flavor, just an adventurer who decided Ulamog's Crusher has crushed enough, and his Pathrazer has razed enough paths. Also, this from Onslaught was one of my first cards, so...nostalgia.

Glory Seeker has been seeking glory since Onslaught, and has not found it yet.

Strictly worse than Kjeldorian Outrider and Veteran Armorer: same mana cost (), same P/T (2/2), same creature types (Human Soldier), same rarity (Common), but they have abilities. However, a vanilla 2/2 for 2 is a basic card, and so it's not SO bad...

Unless you have a real problem with paying instead of , use Sigiled Paladin. Exalted and first strike for just a switch of mana color.

If you have ever once slain anything 3/3 or larger with a glory seeker, or had it been part of a lethal swing (whether it survived or not), or had it gain at least two keywords at once, I think that from a flavor perspective, the glory has been won.

The biggest problem with this card is that it has to contend with things like Grand Abolisher, Elite Inquisitor, Armorsmith, and the like, which are pretty much better, usually for a (W) instead of colorless at worst, in a type of deck that's usually mono or just lightly splashes. Unlike Eager Cadet, which I really have no respect for, I think this card could have some use in a pinch, but there are way better weenies.

This card is strictly worse than Knight of Cliffhaven, both in Rise of the Eldrazi.
Well, is Knight of Cliffhaven at a higher rarity than it? (Goblin Piker, Crimson Mage, Magic 2012)
...Nope.
...What.

Although the P/T to CMC ratio is below average, you gotta admit, that flavor text is one badass creed. Plus, she is a soldier, which means she works well for most soldier decks. Then again, you do have better options than her in most sets. but they don't have the best modern day flavor text ever.

Even with tribal, vanilla 2/2 for 2 does not cut the mustard.
