Glad to see the cloak make it back in the core set. I have always found it to be quite useful and powerful in certain situations. Also, the new art for the card looks great!

Tried it to much amazement with black on specters and royal assassin! Also fixed the problems of my Bant deck getting instant killed and chump blocked. An underestimated sleeper card! 5/5

I use these with Darksteel Colossus. I think you know why. Also good on cards like Maelstrom Archangel, or anything that has an ability that requires them to deal damage to the opponent.

MAKES CREATURES UNBLOCKABLE!
It's an artifact which means it can be used in ANY COLOR deck.
Oh, and Shroud, which means black and red can do nothing against the beat down.

So many combos... so little time...

This card is so good. Throw it on a beefed up Thunder-thrash Elder or any creature with a triggered ability from damaging an opponent. take the five dragons from planar chaos for instance like Oros the Avenger or Vorosh, the Hunter.

I'd almost say it's unbalanced because of its low cost. Almost. Doesn't matter what deck you put it in, it's still going to be useful. Love it.

Protetcive Bubble as an artefact? Handy since you can move it on to another creature for only two once it's in play.

So very useful in my blue artifact deck.
People have to disenchant\naturalise the cloak before dealing with the creature.
The unblockable thing is almost anaside, as the deck includes Akroma's Memorial, but is handy when my draw goes against me.

Oh, and I love the new artwork. Reminds me of metalgear solid, sons of liberty opening sequence.

The old flavor text will be missed, though.

Looove this card. Shroud is awesome. Unblockable is awesome. Giving Kor Duelist these two abilities plus enabling his Double Strike is awesome. Putting Armored Ascension on him beforehand and having him hit twice with at least 5 power is awesome.

Awesome! ^_^

After I survived for something like eight turns with one life, my opponent puts this on a 1/1 ftw. I've gotta give it some respect.

"oh, equipping the cloak? In response, swords that critter. Oh, sorry, did I just ruin your win? My bad."

Works like a charm in combination with Banshee's Blade (and other equipments) on a Loxodon Punisher
(yeah I know, old cards and stuff)

It's not that imba though, plenty of artefact removal, then there is Chainer's Edict, Wing Shards etc.

People was afraid to praise this because it was common. Still, it won game after game for those who dared improve their creatures 400%.

K I gotta know. Can you equip this in response to someone playing a spell that targets a creature and make it fizzle? I want that to be the case

Beautiful artwork, terrific card. Should be in virtually any deck, especially in Standard Format.

The only thing that keeps it from being unbalanced is that the Cloak itself can be targeted... Beware of opponents with instants that destroy like Disenchant or Shatter, as they may wait for you to attack and then kill your guy once he is exposed.

Some obvious combos have already been mentioned, but virtually any creature effect on damage is a sure-fire win. Heavy duty guys can kill quickly, Hypnotic Specter can discard at will... life is good. Sharding Sphinx is another great one.

Can someone respond to the equiping of this card to destroy the creature being equiped by the rules of the stack by an instant that destroyes target creature? Can the creature equiped by this card be detroyed by a spell that does not target on single creature? If so this card seems to be useless against a creature hate deck.

This card can be EXTREMELY powerful, and is often under-appreciated until someone gets owned by it

There are plenty of fun things to do with this. Yes, Phage is one of the obvious choices, but Ashling, the Extenguisher is my favorite (simply because she was in the first Booster I bought). With Ashling, they can't target her, and she slips by, dealing 4 damage and forcing them to sacrifice a creature that you choose. Also great with Charnelhaord Wurm, the Coalition dragons, Nicol Bolas, and anything else that does something upon hit (Celestial Mantle, or Quietous Spike).

@Acefox

Equip can only be done as a sorcery, meaning it can only enter the stack on the bottom. If you're looking for Instant speed shroud, look into Neurok Stealthsuit.

Fits in any deck, very low cost, makes your creature incredibly hard to get rid of... unblockable AND shroud for only 5 mana total... anyone not rating this 5 stars must have some outrageous card standards.

The whispersilk cloak is a good piece of equipment. Its equip cost is cheaper than its casting cost, which is unusual (its usually the other way around). It can be moved around easily, and is great for both offense and defense. Since the creature is unblockable, the obvious use for this would be to put it on a fatty and smash your opponent. It can also be put on a powerful utility card or with some other nasty ability, like a Wellwisher, so my opponent's life total can skyrocket to undefeatable levels and I can't do anything about it unless I remove the cloak first! This card can take any creature you control and win the game for you, even a 1/1 if enough turns elapse and you can hold off your opponent for that long.

The shroud does cause some controller problems though. Since it can't be targeted by the controller (its shroud not hexproof), it can't be further equipped or enchanted. You would have to remove the cloak first, buff your creature, re-equip the cloak and hope your creature doesn't get murdered in response. And of course, you can't slap on a giant growth while your creature is equipped.

And it is a piece of equipment, which means it takes up a slot in your deck (for potentially more creatures with synergy or other useful spells) , and it needs a creature to equip. There is nothing more frustrating than late-game after a hellish match with a burn or counter deck when you have 15 lands and you just can't get that creature to stay on the field and survive being equipped. I'm against equipment in general unless you build a deck around them.

As far as powerful equipment, I much prefer Loxodon Warhammer. But this on a creature already equipped with a Loxodon Warhammer just makes it so much worse!

I love the new M10 art so much better than the original! It really shows how the cloak works!
