Yet another Goblin Leader. I love this guy's ability combination, finally Goblin Warchief is not the only haste-providing Goblin anymore.

So out of the five new Lords in 2010 base set this is unforunately only a marginal card. Now before you goblin lovers got about flinging yourselves at me lets look at the other Lords for 2010. Now it high time that another Goblin beside Goblin King gives +1/+1 because Soldiers, Elves, and even Merfolk have more than 2 cards that give +1/+1 to their brothers. Giving haste is ok. A number of goblins, at least the best one in my mind, already have haste as an ability and the worst of the Warchiefs, Goblin Warchief gives haste to Goblins too. In my mind this should have been Goblin Warchief during the Onslaught block. But hey look on the bright side at least this isnt as worthless as Merfolk Sovereign.

The only thing I don't like about this card is the flavour text, the goblin who said that probably got his teeth kicked in.

@ZioKai I would argue that Goblin Chieftain and Elvish Archdruid are the two most powerful lords in the set. Let's take a look: Captain of the Watch Great ability, great tokens, popular tribe....and there's its mana cost. With Brighthearth Banneret rotating, as well as Preeminent Captain, there aren't any ways to "cheat" this card into play. And let's face it, what good is an aggressive card unless it's costed for, at the latest, the midgame. And, this "Lord" can't even be hit by a Reveillark. So, on the whole, not that great. Merfolk Sovereign With the rotation of Wake Thrasher, this card won't see play unless there's some big, nasty beater that lacks evasion that's also a merfolk. Cemetary Reaper Definitely worse than Lord of the Undead. Won't, or at least shouldn't, see play. Vampire Nocturnus Although the size of the body is nice, having a conditional "Lord" bonus is not. No. Elvish Archdruid Amazing. Combos well, and protects your guys from Volcanic Fallout. In an Elf deck, as good as Gaea's Cradle Goblin Chieftain A merging of Goblin Warchief and Goblin King, this card is superior to both. Not only does it make all future Goblins attack right out of the gate, but gives them an offensive pump as well. It's being run alongside the Warchief in legacy goblins, and should be seen as a strong contender for Best Gobbo Lord ever.

I love the haste affect, awesome for the type 2 goblin decks. No more waiting to play against another red deck for goblins to be affected. Short live the King.

Better than the Goblin King, because if by chance your fighting another goblin deck at least your bonuses are not being given to your enemies creatures.

Goblin warchief is very nice though. widespread haste has been lacking in my goblins latley and this will be a nice addition.

I wouldn't say its the best Goblin lord, but certainly second best. Haste is crucial to its success, and the +1/+1 is great. However there's no way he can replace Goblin Warchief as the best lord for goblins. Again, the +1/+1 is great, but the reduction of casting cost is just so freakishly good for Goblins. Aether Vial has you pumping out free goblins each turn, and this allows you to pump out more goblins for your mana along side it. It's no wonder why Goblins have consistently been the absolute top tier red deck in Legacy when it is just so fast thanks to the Warchief. Things like Goblin Recruiter + Goblin Ringleader become a 4 mana automatic tutor for any 4 goblins you want... that's insane. They share haste, which is better than Mountainwalk definitely; no offense to Goblin King. A lot of good goblins have haste already, like Goblin Guide and Boggart Ram-Gang but there's plenty that don't like Goblin Lackey, Warren Instigator, and Goblin Piledriver. I do SB the King to replace the Chieftain when I know Mountainwalk will play a role in the match, but coming in game 1 you don't want to risk speed for potential unblockable. Coming in at last is the Mad Auntie... And quite frankly its more or less because the Auntie is black. Regenerating goblins is interesting and could definitely be useful, but at the same time its too slow. You can't regenerate until turn 4 assuming this is hard casted turn 3, and quite frankly even a slower goblin deck has things almost wrapped up by then. If Goblins can pull of turn 4 wins consistently in Extended, then Legacy goblins would just hate to see something that isn't doing its full job until then.

Goblins Forever and with 4 of these guys in your deck some Rite of Replications yeah i made my self a nice/weird blue red deck of goblins ok so it didnt win to often but its fun to play.
I had out 6 Goblin Chieftains tokens and originals giving all my gobies a substantial bonus heck my opponents elf deck had some trouble that time what with me having 7/7 haste goblins attacking him each turn for 1 mana.
good times this guy is brilliant for the goblin deck that feels 1/1 s and 2/2 s are to weak.

It's pretty funny how as you go backwards through sets, the same card's rating gets higher and higher. From M12 to M10, the Chieftain rises from about 3.9 to almost 4.4.
