A really good sideboardcard against black/blue decks. It would've been more fun though if the ability worked when you play blue or black spells instead.

Nah, it would've been too powerful then. It would be even better than Quirion Dryad.

This would be great... If anyone would play B/U this set. Of course, you don't need this then, because anything with blue is so flimsy you could knock it over with a Craw Wurm.

Good sideboard card, especially if you can get trample on it.

I dig the snakes in Magic, and it's always good to see a fresh one in the core set. And a fungus snake, well, that just tickles me.

I've always had a love for the cards which reinforce the "enemy" colors in Magic. This guy is a fantastic example, giving you a very solid beater who can become gigantic if left unchecked.

This card's pretty awesome even in standard constructed play against some decks.

Against Vampires for example it's ridiculously good since they run a lot of 2-3CMC drops so it's triggering constantly, and since the act of them casting any black spell puts the Mold Adders trigger on the stack to resolve first, it's very easy to have it outside of Urge to Feed & Disfigure range.

"Mold Adder", "Fungus Snake"...
Mold is to fungus as adder is to snake.
Almost as good as Fungus Sliver :P

Painter's Servant, then watch your opponent hesitate on every single of his spells as each of them make Mold grow.

I gave it a three, mostly cause it's a one drop that actually has a bonus. Not nearly as good as Llanowar Elves or even Sylvan Ranger, but it's okay for a distraction I guess. Doubling Season would be lol on it.

If it said "player" instead of "opponent" I'd suggest running it in Dredge.

I agree with Joseph_Leito, the blue cards in M10 are terrible. A good sideboard card none the less.

The trouble is that blue and black have some of the most efficient ways to eliminate a creature at common (ie Unsummon, Doom Blade) and black's color hoser Deathmark directly counters this.

I'd say it's much stronger against blue than black.

Sometimes my trips to the toilet remind me of this card.
(not the power level. The art. And the art isnt bad... but it looks like poo! does that make any sense?)

Lets say i Darkblast this thing while it has not counters, what happens, does it die?

@monkeymonk42

Short answer:
It will not die.

Long answer:
You cast Darkblast - it is now is on the stack. Then Mold Adder's ability triggers because you cast a black spell, going on top of Darkblast on the stack. Assuming no one responds with anything else, effects on the stack begin to resolve. Mold Adder will get a +1/+1 counter (because it's on top of the stack), and then Darkblast will give Mold Adder -1/-1 until end of turn. This will not kill it since Mold Adder is now a 2/2.

Closely related to the obscure Citanul Druid.

4/5 for flavor win. Damp and dark make fungus grow. Srsly.
