Zap was playable in limited in certain situations, so you don't need to actually be able to play this clunky card. Uncounterable damage is nice, too.

I'm giving this an honourable mention for being the only one of the Sojourners that isn't absolutely awful!

Not as bad as said here. Uncounterable Zap, or efficient creature? Sounds good.

@Cenelder:
Is that why half of the ranking tournament decks are Jund?

Not bad. A CMC of BRG for a 3/2 in case you need some creature to beat out, this isn't hard for a Jund deck provided you have the right lands. The cycling ability, believe me when I said this, that one card draw and that one damage determines your success or failures in a match.

This card killed my chances of winning at the Pre-release. Both me and my opponent had 1 life, no creatures on the board and about five turns before we decked ourselves. My opponent cycled this and Zapped me (he didn't have black mana to play it).
i know this is still better, but if your opponent feels the need to counter zap, something is wrong or one of you is already going to win the game.

@liory This is in Esper. Each of the Sojourners are "Sojurning" to an enemy Shard, hence the name. Bant Sojourners are in Jund, Naya Sojourners in Grixis, Esper Sojourners in Naya, and Grixis Sojourners in Bant. I find the art on this cycle to be interesting, as each Shard had its own artists, and the art for each Sojourner is done by an artist for the Sojourners native plane. I would assume they did it this way and not the other way around to show more how the Sojourners are perceiving the plane.
