I love the artwork for this card. He's so cute; but dangerous.

@ EricB - Definitely looks better in the new foil version imo. But then a lot of Kev Walker's cards do. He does a lot of misty backgrounds which have amazing depth on foil prints but look a bit flat on the normal cards.
As for the card himself, he's pretty cool. He definitely makes for some memorable moments in dragon theme decks. Especially when he returns himself, in the form of Rorix Bladewing! There's something strangely cool about the idea of a one-person tag team!

Wow, that would be awesome. If you get all four of them killed/milled/whatever and revive one and play it, you can get them all back. That is how zombies ought to be. Unkillable.

Except that it's legendary, so that wouldn't work.

A little too pricey for a Zombie tribal deck, but must-have for a Dragon tribal deck.

This is a risen Bladewing, so this makes him a Zombie i guess.
But according to Kev Walker's artwork, this actually looks pretty much like a Zombie Dragon Skeleton to me.

I wouldn't say he's a must-have in a Dragon tribal deck. But he's definitely worth using.
When put onto the battlefield with Dragon Storm (although this card would normally not be used in a common tribal deck for that matter), his trigger effect will also always come handy.
If you're splasing white, when combined with a cycled Eternal Dragon you can ensure that his cip/etb effect will have use.
Or if you reanimate a Broodmate Dragon, you can pump three 4/4 flying fatties with his ability next turn for a devasting attack.
As opposed to other dragons you might be able to make more use of his thrall since they share the same creature type. Although as aforementioned, it will be hard to make good use of this guy in Zombie tribal.

If you have two of them in your graveyard, you can get in a silly loop where you keep reviving copies of himself, having them die to the legendary rule, and repeat. It's silly! Until you throw in a Pandemonium-type card, that is.

He ironically combos well with himself. Cast his living version on turn 6 and attack, trade with something huge, then cast his dead version on the next turn and bring his living version back to attack again. The logic is so flawed that it's actually kind of funny.

Goofy as it seems nay sayers, Bladewing the risen and rorix bladewing can exsist in play at the same time, yes we know in our hearts its the same dragon but the rules say he has two different names.
Same for Jeska, warrior adept and Phage the untouchable. Same person, different name.

The flavor text should be "BLEEAAAHHH"

@exodus: you win. also, write to Kev Walker and see if you can get them to actually use that flavor text on a new version of this guy in FTV: Legends. bet you anything we'll see one or two of the FTV: Dragons get their long-overdue MYTHIC rating. not more than 2, certainly, bec that would detract more than add to the set, but I could see Bladewing the Risen and Nicol Bolas being in it. Or at least I can hope. I know, Nicol has had SO MANY printings, considering he's a freaking Elder Dragon, but come on-- it just seems 'NOT FAIR' that FTV: Dragons came out RIGHT. BEFORE. MYTHIC. and now these guys don't look as cool as they are supposed to...
