They didn't have to make a cycle. We've seen enough from Onslaught and such already.

The cycle is pretty cool, although somewhat annoying because the fetched creatures are Mythic Rares. The Heralds are kinda useless unless you have the cards they fetch.

This card is very similar to a ritual card from YuGiOh.

I would have liked this whole cycle of Heralds if they searched for a card with the creature type of the respective mythic. :\ Sphinxs are a decently large tribe, as are Angels, Demons, Dragons and (Beasts was Naya?).

There's no reason this ability should cost three mana in addition to the three sacrifices. It makes the heralds even more bad than they already were. I have Sphinx Sovereign in my Esper deck and I can easily get it out without the herald. I have two Sphinx Summoners to search for it, and two Master Transmuters to cheat it out. If I don't get any of those I can still hard-cast it with the help of Etherium Sculptor and Vedalken Engineer. The herald is far from the easiest way to get the Sovereign out.

If you can ignore the activated ability, and appreciate that you can tutor for him with Trinket Mage and make him a Sol Ring with Grand Architect, this actually isnt a bad card.
Never understood what the point of a "combo" this obvious, boring, and weak was.
Would be much cooler if it read: "U, T, Sacrifice a white creature, black creature, and a blue creature: Put a 6/6 Sphinx Token with Flying into play." You may not still get Sphinx Sovereign, but you do get a pretty decent beater out, and a little bit cheaper, too. I'd rather have that than this giant pile of card disadvantage for a Sphinx that really doesn't deserve it.

Mono-blue, 3-card, third-turn combo with Oona's Gatewarden and Judge's Familiar/Zealous Guardian (or Tidal Visionary).
