Black should not do this kind of thing better than red, yet Crypt Ripper exists. Wizards stole haste from red, and let every other color do it betterAkroma, Angel of Wrath, Yavimaya Ants...except blue, cause they hate blue even worse than red.

@Hydrogoose: not everyone has access to banefire and such. Besides, this has the potential to do more damage over the long run, as you can invest multiple turns worth of mana into fire breathing, but only one into banefire.

@blinthrall: Except Crypt Ripper costs 4, meaning you'll get 2 swings in with this guy before Crypt Ripper even hits play, sure Crypt Ripper gets +1/+1 and starts out as a 2/2, but if you're playing cards like that you're likely playing aggro, in which case you're going to want to kill quick and often. Neither card is very good though Pyre Charger is too fragile and your opponent can remove it after you sink a bunch of mana into it. Crypt Ripper costs more meaning on turn 4 you'll likely be swinging for a very unexciting 2 damage after tapping out. This is of course assuming you don't play any mana acceleration.

@blindthrall : I hope you're trolling. Because if you are, you're a very successful one, but if you're not, you're simply a misinformed ignorant player.
"Wizards stole haste from red" - First of all, it's not like red "owns" haste. Haste is predominately red, but it also exists in other colours and had existed for quite a long time.
"Every other colour do it better" - Goblin Guide? Cunning Sparkmage? There are plenty of good hasty red creatures, and red does have the best use for haste, especially since RDW wins tend to try and win on turns 3 ~ 5, and quick beaters are very good at helping achieve this.
"Except blue, (be)cause they hate blue even worse than red" - Do I even need to counter this? Time Walk. Ancestral Recall. Timetwister. Mana Drain. Force of Will. Jace, the Mind Sculptor. I could probably go on, but the sheer amount of absolutely broken blue cards is overwhelming compared to the red ones. Now, you may just be talking about creatures, but here's the thing : In general, blue creatures aren't MEANT to be the most mana efficient. It's just not its part of the pie. In return, they get very powerful instants and sorceries, which is where blue shines. (Of course, anyone who's ever played against Faeries may wish to counterpoint, but I'd argue that most Faeries (e.g. Vendillon Clique are functionally actually instant/sorceries with "put a X/Y flier into play.")
Okay. Now for my comment on the card. While Pyre Charger isn't exactly the best card printed in all of Magic history, it's certainly not terrible. Okay, it's pretty terrible, but it's not terrible terrible. While I appreciate that this can charge through and hit unsuspecting opponents for large if they don't have any blockers, it's still very flimsy with 1 toughness and no evasion. If you were to toss a Whispersilk Cloak on it, for example, this card becomes much, much better, like a reusable Fireball to their face. However, as is, this card really isn't all that great in a vacuum.

@Blinthrall Of course, I am baffled that Akroma, Angel of Wrath has haste but Akroma, Angel of Fury doesn't. However, it is not fair to say that 'every other color do it better' Many of the best hasty creatures are red such as Ball Lightning, Demigod of Revenge, Goblin Guide, Hellspark Elemental, Hero of Oxidridge, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, and Magnivore.
