I could easily see this being banned if it were part of Zendikar block, but for it to be banned from Ice Age block constructed seems a little surprising... there, it thins the deck, that's about it.

I really wish this wasn't on the Wizards no-reprint list... and even though it is, I hope they find a way to make a functional reprint for a slightly altered cost... like say an artifact that does the same thing and costs 0 mana to cast... or a land that does the same thing but costs 2 to activate... or comes into play tapped itself.

Since Vintage and Legacy are so fast, this is a card that is doomed to a $5 price tag and occasional casual play.

Ice Age Block can thin it fairly well though...

With Nature's Chosen on a White creature you can search the turn it comes into play, and still use the creature for other things

Juniper Order Druid, Elder Druid or the talisman's could be used as well(Nacre Talisman, Malachite Talisman, etc.) but Nature's Chosen on a white creature is probably best.

Is there a use for this after Terramorphic Expanse?

I love this card for multiplayer. It ramps up the mana (slowly.. but surely!) and helps you top deck less land.

Can't wait to use these in a landfall deck :)

This is a great fetching device when combined with the right cards!

Try this one with Amulet of Vigor. This allows you fetching a basic land each turn for 1.
If you have two (or more) Amulets, you can even do it for free (or even produce mana)!

You can use Ruin Ghost to flicker this land after activating it, this will prevent the bounce.
It will even allow another use if you have Amulet of Vigor in play.

Exploration or cards like Sakura-Tribe Scout can also help getting more than just the Gaciers onto the battlefield each turn.

This did make it to tournaments. I belive one of those fun championship pre-con decks featured it. It was fun.

One of my favorite lands. I find it mostly useful not because it fetched color, but because it ensures you will continue to get land. If you draw your basic land, play that. It not, play a glacier. Sweet. Mode mentioned Amulet of Vigor which is a fantastic addition. Also try some "double land" from the Ravnica block. It brings a smile to my face to pop a glacier already in play, then drop an Izzet Boilerworks and return it to my hand right then. Again... Sweet.

@LeoKula: This is very near being a staple in EDH.

@Mode: Why would you need 2 Amulets? The effect of the Amulets isn't cumulative, so both Glaciers and the basic land would ETB untapped.

@Master-Crimson: The effects of multiple Amulet of Vigors is cúmulative. Amulet of Vigor does not make the card enter the battlefield untapped but rather untaps it when it enters the battlefield tapped. Thus if you have two you can tap it in response to the trigger from the second one.

Seriously guys, this is a 5/5 card hands down. It essentially gives you a free colorless Rampant Growth every other turn! And how many lands do you know of that completely shuts down any chance of you being mana screwed?

This is essentially a required land in Commander. It is very worth the 5 dollars it costs to buy.

Insanely good card. 5/5. Even if your deck were to only contain, say, 8-12 basics, 1 or 2 copies would still be worth it for the CA they offer.

Stone-Seeder Hierophant
Amulet of Vigor
Thawing Glaciers

Completely empty your deck of basic lands. Amulet in play. Pay 1 and tap the glaciers. Search for a land. Use the Stone-Seeder to untap the Glaciers. Basic land comes into play untapped, and untaps the Seeder. Tap the new land for 1 for the Glaciers. Repeat as many times as necessary. Easy enough to pull off in 60 card decks, but I routinely use it in EDH. I've managed to pull this off once on turn 4; earliest so far. Do it at the end of your opponent's turn, and you'll have all that mana for use on your next turn.

Back in Ice Age/Alliances, a playset of these was standard for any good deck. It's rather slow but works awesomely well given time.

The combo now with Amulet of Vigor makes it all the more powerful.

It was an all star back in the day and it's still excellent now, particularly in slow formats.

I'd definitely use it in Commander.

It's the one card I have in each and every commander deck. Even without the numerous combos to pump it, just by itself, it's an awesome card. Especially played early, the card advantage, that is uncounterable by normal means, is insane.

Do we still have a cleanup step? If so, when is it?

Fun Fact: Inquest Magazine rated this card a 2 out of 5 stars when the set was released. All it did was go on to win pro events and become a staple of any control deck at the time. The next issue after Worlds '97 it went up to a 5 out of 5 stars.

Very good. Could use a reprint.

@Subtle_Kay: It's the very last step of a turn. Damage and "until end of turn" effects wear off and the active player discards to seven cards.

EDH decks without basic land are just asking for it. Decks with basic land that don't play this when they can are just silly.
