Very good card. 2 life is not all that much, considering you're paying one mana for any card in your deck. Sure, the top of the library restriction kind of sucks...but that's easily cir***vented.

It's insane that they printed this and Doomsday in the same core set. In hindsight, I guess nothing terribe came of it. Still, it must have seemed a ballsy move at the time.

The reason this is better than Demonic Tutor is because of that instant speed. Just drop it on the end phase and draw whatever you want.

For when you get an opening hand with one card off your favorite combo.
Definitely the best of the tutors. Yes, Demonic Tutor is straight to your hand and doesn't cost life, but 1 less mana and instant speed does knock Vampiric just above. Either play at the end of their turn to set up your own draw step, or just before playing a card drawer.

It would have been more fitting for Sorin Markov to have had this is an ability, rather than Liliana Vess because he is an actual vampire. It would have been better flavorwise.

@ adrian.malacoda: I'm pretty sure the reason ApotheosisCM referenced this instead of Demonic Tutor is because this puts the card on the top of your library, like Liliana Vess, and Demonic Tutor puts the card in your hand.

What's really funny is that this and the other Mirage block tutors were meant as weaker versions of Demonic Tutor. Power is relative - they are all still amazing cards.

For flavor reasons, I would've preferred that you pay your 2 life to the Tutor before you get your card. I can't imagine this guy working on trust.
