This can wreck opponents early in the game. Problem is, if you keep pitching lands to it, it'll wreck you too. Use discretion when Retracing this spell.

Destroying my opponent's hand and pitching my own along the way? Sounds pretty Hellbent, if I do say so myself.

Brutal card in the late game, when rescources are low, and one slip will end you. You top a land and smile, because this card turns a potentialy dead draw into an effective weapon, and may even ruin your opponent.
I like it.

throw in a life from the loam and there goes the need to use this card with discretion. run a terravorre for kicks, or a tombstalker to gobble up on the nonlands that get sent to the graveyard when you dredge loam.

perfect for my discard deck since my deck only only needs 3-4 lands to run it efficiently which means that its really effective for me early game. plus yes tomb stalker becomes my best friend with all those tossed lands in my graveyard. but still first turn, dark ritual, duress, hyme to turok takes the cake.

When I come up against this card, I might discard a proper card for the ACTUAL Raven's crime. THEN my strategy is basically to save lands in my hand and when my opponent pitches a land, I pitch a land as well.
I guess I can survive from doing this because my decks normally only need 4 or 5 lands to run. 4 is fine but 5 is very good. Also, the opponent is NOT going to start pitching their lands when they themselves have so few mana resources (unless their deck is TOTALLY based on that sort of thing).
Now for my evaluation of the card... IT IS *^#&**@^$& useful. :P

Whenever I build a deck with this card in it, this card ALWAYS shines BRIGHTLY!

Dakmor Salvage is pretty wicked. Dakmor Salvage + Null Profusion basically turns this card into "Dredge 14: Target opponent discards their hand."

Awesome card for graveyard deck. 1 mana for a early game creature drop into graveyard, cheap and reusable later to keep creatures you draw going into the grave for Exhume/Animate dead.
Not to mention the fact that if your opponent has one card in hand you may just destroy his last hope of victory.

* sigh* Yet another way to abuse Crucible of Worlds. Maybe throw in some moonfolk to get the lands back in your hand too.
This is my absolute favorite discard spell. It's a game within a game; when to retrace, "Do I need this card, or can I pitch it?".

While necropotence should work faster and kill your opponent, this works well with it nonetheless. You accidentally draw a few lands? Who cares? Raven's Crime, Raven's Crime! And.. give me 5 of your life. Lulz.

This. Card. Kicks. Bottom. Seriously, it turns your lands into discard spells, what more could you want?

Would have been better as as instant, but it's good as it is. And it turns Tilling Treefolk into 2 discards.

Totally underrated at 4.2. This should be at least 4.5.
Alone, unlike most card, this card is already very powerful considering you can recast it over and over again as long as it's in your graveyard.
However, when this card is combined with other cards that would likely be in a discard deck, it is absolutely devastating. This card would most likely be found in a deck with good top deck discard spells such as Thoughtseize, Duress, Inquisition of Kozilek. Those cards disrupt early game combos but cannot target land cards. Raven's Crime becomes a great turn 3+ card to make your opponent discard his land cards. At which point it essentially becomes a soft-lock. The opponent will either draw into more land and have nothing to cast, or draw into a spell for which he might not have enough mana to cast.
Then there are cards like Quest for the Nihil Stone which creates a dilemma for your opponent. Your opponent can try to play his last remaining card to avoid losing 5 life on his next upkeep, or he can risk losing the card he's holding on to if you draw a land.
If he draws a land, he has to choose between holding on to it to avoid losing 5 life on his next upkeep, or putting it on the Battlefield without a spell to cast and lose 5 life on his next upkeep. If he draws a spell, he has to choose between holding on to it to avoid losing 5 life on his next upkeep, or casting it (if he has enough mana to do so) and lose 5 life on his next upkeep.
Without some good draw cards, your opponent is screwed. The discarded land is such a small price to pay to recast this gem over and over again and see the look on your opponent's face.

This card actually gets better if you get flooded. So I call it... flood insurance.

Pair it with Deathrite Shaman 's first ability and you get your mana back from your discarded land. It's like having an imprinted copy of this card floating around that lets you spend one black mana every time you draw and pitch a land (again, getting the mana back from DS). Very nice combo and can even be mono-black if you wish. Very nice card/combo to keep opponent's hand empty and useless!
