This is a great card to have in red/green decks. Tattermunge Maniac becomes more efficient, Boggart Ram-Gang becomes a nightmare for the opponent, and Giantbaiting becomes one of the most ridiculous cards ever. Sure, not having an actual third ability might be disappointing, but the liege's cohorts more than compensate.

I agree with SavageBrain. While it doesn't compare well to other Lieges, the double buff is worth having in G/R decks.
It's a shame that Colossal Might being red/green makes Boartusk's trample ability even less powerful.

Why'd it have to be a Knight in a tribal block? It could easily have been a warrior.

Should have been a Warrior, and should have had Haste instead of (or even in addition to) Trample.
Sigh. Could have been so good for a R/G Warrior deck.

@MasterOfEtherium... Stop Capitalizing The First Letter Of Every Word That You Type. Its Annoying And Makes You Sound Unintelligent. If Your Reading This And Also Find It Irritating, Copy And Past This Whenever You See His Comments (Which Are On Almost Every Card I Look Up :/)

I dislike this liege.. in almost every possible way. :/ For starters, I'm tired of seeing so many goblins. Secondly, its a 3/4 for 4 mana which isn't to amazing and it has no auxiliary special abilities that make me think that mana cost is worth it, 3 is much more reasonable. Thirdly, its special ability is trample.. on a 3 power attacker? At most you get like what 1 damage across from your trample, thats a bad keyword for such a low power creature. Double strike would have been much more appropriate as would first strike, and make it look that much more impressive. I would have settled for putting tokens into play when it dies, or generating mana as well. The frustrating part of it all is I play lots of red and green, and would have preferred the red/green liege to do something worth mentioning, instead I play balefire, because once I get that thing out I'm gaining life and doing damage left and right just for playing spells normally. Creakwood liege is also awesome, free 3/3 token a turn.

How come the eventite lieges are so much better than the shadowmoor ones?

Why are people complaining about this guy? He's a knight because Shadowmoor was not meant to be tribal and the rest of the ally liege cycle are all knights. He does exactly what RG wants to do; he turns sideways in a big way. Enough said. 4/5

Whoever's complaining that this liege is BAD should shut the ^%#@! up.
a 3/4 trample would be wroth a 4 to cast common. Who cares if it's a 3 power trample??? So what??? Haven't you seen Goblin Deathraiders? Or Hellspark Elemental??
They're 3 power tramplers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And why would it matter if it's toughness is higher than the power for trample??? (I'm assuming that you would compare the toughness to power and mana cost before claiming it to have too little power). With a higher toughness, it'll SURVIVE more attacks AND OVERALL STILL DEAL THE SAME (if not MORE) DAMAGE THAN let's say a Blistering Firecat.
Then there are the Liege +1/+1 abilities. That AUTOMATICALLY qualifies this 3/4 trampler to be a rare.
Meh @ people who think this should be a Warrior.

"Warrior" might be a better tribe based on its colours, but having these lieges all be knights seems like a conscious flavour decision. They're all riding creatures, so they would all qualify - I think that giving red or green the odd knight here and there makes an interesting exception to a general rule (of warriors).
Shadowmoor made the boggarts so savage! If the boar leads him to victory, they're gonna eat him? Harsh, goblin. Harsh.

Liege makes so much more sense to be a knight than a warrior from a flavor standpoint, anyway. Complaining that a creature doesn't conform to the tribal aspect you want is just sour grapes. That's like saying "Man, if only Baneslayer Angel were a zombie, then it would be better because it would work awesome with my Death Baron!"

Lol yea. Gotta love caps though.
Idk if this card is power creep but 4 mana for a 3/4 trampler that makes all your other green and red creatures fatter? Nothing to complain about.

Boartusk is good card. Maybe not the best of the lieges, but he is the true to his colors. Now, is he good enough for a rare? In my opinion, yes... because his toughness is only matched by the Wilt-leaf Liege, liegewise, at that mana cost. To those who complain that the extra point in toughness isn't that good, let me tell you, that extra point glued my Stonebrow deck together. Because of the swan decks that were standard at the time, creatures I had out got hit withSulfurous Blasts & Firespouts almost every turn. Given that he doesn't have the surprise factor of the Thistledown Liege or the discard into play of Wilt-leaf Liege, it seems odd that he just has trample. If Wizards gave him another ability, he would be unbalanced with the rest of the leiges in the set. If they made him a 4/3 he would die way too easily. If he was a 5/4 he would be overpowered. As a 3/4 he's balanced. If you know how to use him he's a stone-cold killer. I listen to what people don't like about him. I understand what Donovan_Fabian is getting at. Boartusk Liege practically has a sticky-note on its back saying "kill me!" So when you play him, you have to be smart about when and how you use him.I have three good strategies that work with him. 1.Have nastier guys in play before even thinking of playing the Boartusk Liege to make him seem like the least of your opponent's problems. 2. Run four copies of him in your deck. Either hold on to him until your opponent has no cards in his hand, or wait to draw into another one and play both at once. One may get countered or killed. It is less likely that the opponent will have enough mana to deal with both of them. 3.My personal favorite way is to play with a Batman to his Robin, his Bill to his Ted. Stonebrow, Kroson Hero is a 4/4 centaur warrior that gives other tramplers +2/+2 on attack. not to mention that he's also green and red, so the Boartusk Liege pumps Stonebrow into a 6/6 that attacks and becomes an 8/8. This also allows the liege to attack and become a 5/6. Now the icing on the cake: if you run cards that give you multiple attack phases, tramplers you control get an additional +2/+2 every time you attack.
The Boartusk doesn't shine in all decks. In my opinion, he's a must have in every Stonebrow deck or in decks where most of the creatures are both green and red.

The collection of Liege cards from Lorwyn/Shadowmoor are all extremely good, even if some, like this guy, don't have a whole lot going for them ability-wise. Really though, you don't want to attack with them as much as you just want them on the field so your critters get more powerful. That extra +2/+2 can be enough to change a game easily, especially in a R/G beatdown deck.
In short, when playing two-color decks, make room for your respective Liege. 'Nuf said.

I suppose they figured this would have an advantage in that it's part of one of the most popular tribes going - as well as being a Colour Lord it's essentially another mono-red Goblin Lord. The same could be said for the other Shadowmoor Knight lieges (the Eventide ones don't tend to provide much tribal wise).

A solid pick for a red/green creature beatdown deck. For optimum flavour, fill with goblins and be sure to spice with Gristleback.

@ Gezus82 How come the eventite lieges are so much better than the shadowmoor ones? Because the Lieges from Eventide are enemy colored lords while the ones in Shadowmoor are allied colored. On top of that the Eventide lieges cost an average of 5 mana, as opposed to the 4 mana Shadowmoor lieges.
However, the Eventide lieges can be played in mono-colored decks more effectively than their Shadowmoor counterparts.
