that's debatable on the strictly part. What if you have only white mana? How are you gonna play a storm crow with white mana? can't answer that can you? ha, got you right where I want you.

One of the more interesting reset buttons... a little overcosted though...

For that price, I would really like it to do something to life totals, like exchanging them or setting to 20. But, it looks like you can't get everything you want.

The reason why it doesn't do anything to the player's life totals is because Blue doesn't normally effect life totals.

Imagine a worldpurge with 4 reality strobes running. Talk about a war of attrition.

If you're playing blue, I'd rather just play Upheaval for 2 less. Being able to float mana is a big advantage for Upheaval.

Suspend it with Jhoira of the Ghitu before suspending other big critters.

Then, when it is cast at the beginning of your upkeep, if you have more cards in hand, suspend those in response.

Too bad this card can't be used in a Jhoira EDH deck.

A good reset cards, but puts you a turn behind the opponent, unless you didn't play a land the turn you cast it.

I hate this card. My friend always plays it against me with no way to abuse it :(

What is funny is how much this screws Green-Ramp. They pull all their lands out and then they get bounced to their hands. Having to discard down to 7 means not only has a good chunk of their deck been neutralized (all the ramp they played) but they have little chance to draw anymore. So they either keep a hand of up to 7 land had hope they top deck something useful or they bite the bullet and pray they top deck those 2 forests they haven't fetched yet.

Similar to other hybrid cards of this nature, its main draw is that you can drop it in mono-white. If you've got an early game based deck that fails to score the kill, you can drop this later and reset the board to a state your deck prefers.

While it is expensive, Sudden Disappearance seems good with this.

@drunyun: Obviously Upheaval is better. This is a fixed version of Upheaval, because Upheaval is broken.

Mana-abilities that use the stack could still be used to float mana; though all of the ones I can think of are black or red; and you'd have to get this on the top of the stack as well lol..

Still; you could make a white/black upheaval deck!

this card isn't as painful as day of judgement or planar cleansing but i can see many new players treasure this card and use it in many casual decks.
a "good to be card" for the community. 4/5

@OmegaSerris: I think you might want to reread the card. It doesn't force discard, it forces them to shuffle their playing field back into their library. So they just keep their best combo for dragging lands out of their deck (assuming its based on permanents) and whatever they'd like to cast once they've ramped up again and thank you for putting yourself so far behind them.

This card is only really viable when used with flicker effects like Sudden Disappearance, storage effects like Detention Sphere, certain fast paced decks that can quickly recover from the reset (white weenies, mana ramp, graveyard exploitation decks, etc). And even then, the 8 cmc + the sorcery speed, makes it very difficult to get any practical use out of it. Though it might be fun to try this in an Epic Experiment deck ;)
