although Tangle asp kills at the end of combat, while sylvan basilisk survives to tell his grandchildren.

Hate this kind of effect, too overpowered, especially in green. Player 1:"I attack with 5 7/7's and a 1/1"
Player 2: "Okay I block the first 7/7 with my..."
Player 1: "no, all your creatures have to block the 1/1"
Player 2: "... *gunshot*"

@icelogic Might be the Alpha version.

I would put this on the upcoming Scars of Mirrodin green creature "Engulfing Slagwurm". It destroys creatures whenever it blocks or becomes blocked, and it's a 7/7 so it's likely to last longer than the weaker counterparts Sylvan Basilisk and Tangle Asp.

This is one of the finishers in this stupid tribal spider deck i have.
Throw venoms on a couple weak power ones so they just look like good blockers. Then lure one and BAM SPIDERS

Great card, one of the most annoying effects green can have. On the other hand, Tempting Licid...
Why not do it more than once? lololololololol
IMO tempting licid is better (it's even cheaper and movable ... )

@Ladwig:
The Enchant Creature equivalent of Deathtouch would be Venomous Fangs, not Venom. The ideas are similar, but not the same.
Lure's a pretty handy card. I'd have to give it a 3.5 of 5 rating. In the right conditions, of course, it seems as though the card deserves a much higher rating. The card just requires those proper settings to have already been set up before it's useful. With, say, one or two creatures in play, it's a little difficult for Lure to be game-winning or something.
...also, Gorilla Berserkers has a pseudo-Lure built into it. Lure holds a more significant place enchanting a Craw Giant. :D
Green removal with the right creatures in play. Nice, casual-level synergy with Greater Basilisk from M11, just in case you were wondering what cheap tricks you could do with a deathtouching fatty.
Between M11 and the upcoming M12, green actually has a fun suite of control options at its disposal.

When they brought this back in 10th, I wish they had gone with either the original art or the Masques art.

Shove it on a regenerator, give it Venom and this. That's about the best you can do with it, really.

Good, classic card with terrible artwork.

Although the card is classically referenced in terms of how it combos with Thicket Basilisk (or to a lesser extent, Craw Giant), it really can be quite effective on it's own, allowing you to force your opponent's creatures to let all the big ones by to gang-block the 1/1 llanowar elf. Potentially a game-finisher.

ahhh i used to throw this on abu ja'far and wipe out a nicely built army in large group games. I really do miss this game. Guess i am going to have to re orient myself with it.

Or just use it on a lousy 1/1 creature, clearing the way for some big, nasty beasts! We're talking green afterall!!

The effect of Lure needs a name cuz Venom got effect name of deathtouch
