One of the most useless piece of crap I have ever seen.

probably one of the most usless creature in magic.

sell it to little kids who think that anything with a toughness of at least 5 is a good card.

He is competing with wood elemental with worst green creature ever. He lost, failure.

well, it's not like he's going to attack on the turn he comes out anyway...

and at least you don't have to sacrifce any forests when he comes into play, so he's probably usually better than wood elemental...

okay, i'm done being an optimist, this guy's just awful.

Not as bad as it used to be. WW's Amulet of Vigor would give you the ability to untap and retap for Convoke mana, if that is worth anything. But to be honest, a 3/5 USED to be worth something, even for 5 mana. Sure it wasn't an amazing card, but it was draftable. Obviously not a constructed playable, but I recently lost a draft match to aBattle Hurda. It all depends on how you're playing.

Holding a person. Just saying. Pleasant when you notice it.

I think people are just spoiled by Leatherback Baloth. So you can't block with him first turn. Green will probably have something else to block with. It's far from the best, but the stats/cost ratio is right on the curve. Would anybody play it if it were 5/3?

i ran him cuz his colorless cost my treefolk ran on paying only 1 or 2 for creature but now i would run him. my deck loved the guy
i took him out and replaced him with the 3/4 that can block flyers didnt run the same way

How is he really bad? I mean, CIPT on a creature is like, no big deal. His creature type makes his big fanny useful. The art and flavor are pretty spot on. And haven't you ever drafted a Rotting Legion in M11? This is pound for pound better than that guy.

The same converted mana cost and power/toughness as Leaf-Crowned Elder, I just can't decide who I should prefer in my treefolk deck...

This is worth more than one star. Most green cards that break mana/p/t convention are green heavy. Then again, if you're worried about green mana, you're not playing a treefolk deck.

At least the flavour text is pretty good.

Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.

This card references the very first treefolk, Ironroot Treefolk. It's "enters play tapped" line of text is playing with the set's theme of time, speeding up or slowing down.

You're totally missing that he was a tree in the forest referenced by Scarwood Bandits.
